The Walking Dead ( spoilers)

For seasons now humanity has taken a true bashing in The Walking Dead.
Even Rick's group, now devoid of the moral compasses of Hershel, Dale, Deanna and Tyreese and with Maggie and Glen incapacitated by pregnancy, is finding it hard to keep a civilized community going in a world filled by fortified townships ruled over by leaders with their own agendas and way of managing a frightened new world.
The new baddie in season 7 is a real psychopath. He is also clever and uses proven psychological and physically terrorizing ways to control his environment.
Negan is modern day ISIS personified, and in that way, his retribution on " Team Rick" with his barbed wire baseball bat  is even more sickening than it could have been.
Terror is king, it would seem.....its parallel with the middle east's medieval war all too apparant
And It's all too much.....
Having said this Jeffrey Dean Morgan is quite amazing as chilling and psychologically savvy Negan

The Walking Dead, is essentially an adventure story and adventure stories should be entertaining.
Overkilling two lead characters in such a bleak, violent way is not quite entertainment...but it was bloody powerful television
We shall see where season 7 goes eh?

  1. I was really looking forward to this coming back. Todays episode was too too much for me. We turned it off. We will try again next week. if still too much, we will give up on this series.

  3. The violence was a little more than I could handle. I felt numb and a little sick when it was over. I was surprised that they took out two characters in first episode too. I want Negan dead! What scares me is all the crazy people out in the world that would look up to Negan as their hero! Scary thought!

  4. I can't wait till Negan gets his. It was really gruesome. I wasn't going to watch this season after the ending last season. But, curiosity got the cat.

  5. I was totally horrified by the physical brutality and the psychological torture. I've watched this show from the first episode but it's getting so dark,I don't know if I can keep watching. I mean, zombies aren't real but people like Negan really exist.

  6. Glenn and Abraham were due to die if the story was to stay true to the novella.

But I can see Maggie and the women becoming very powerful as the season goes on.

Hell hath no fury...well Maggie is pretty scorned

  7. No. I shall not "suck your nuts"! Instead I shall pickle them and place them in a glass jar filled with formaldehyde

  8. I have been a Walking Dead fan since the beginning but the sickening scenes were, well, sickening, in this first episode of the new season. Ugh. Even closing my eyes the sounds were super creepy. I will watch the second episode and hope Team Good Guys comes back, and rescues Our Favorite Character.

  10. Sorry John, you can't 'spoil" me. I've never watched it. Too bust watching upper class high brow shows like Sons of Anarchy and Shameless. Maybe if we get heavy snow here in the US this winter and I get stuck on the farm I'll start with the Dead. Time will tell.

  11. I'm a 64 year old Wuzz, and I made the decision some years ago not to watch/listen to/read about nasty stuff. I don't go to nasty movies and I turn TV off if the news gets too bad. I find nasty stuff stays in my head way too long. I also made a decision to try to say something pleasant, give a smile away free, restrain my inner bitch as much as I could. I can't make the world a better place (can someone do something about Trump please) but I can try to make the bit I live in pleasant.....
That makes me Pollyanna living in Could Cuckooland!!
    But it's how I cope...

  12. Nope, never watched it and won't start now. Not that I watch TV anyway, believe it or not, it's actually possible to live life without it !

  13. We've not watched it since season one, but it sounds like it's come back in an extremely violent way, and a bit to close for comfort if you look at how it translates to actual acts of violence in these present times 😡 I'll stick to Cold Feet 😊

  14. Mr Blue have watched this from the very beginning, way back when it was free on Channel 5. Last night, was too much for Mr Blue. Sadly, I have become desensitised to it. I can even watch it on my own - which is going some. Thankfully, I am not like this with other programmes, or I'd be worried. I think the writers have gone too far by giving in to viewers baying for blood. I hope the plot improves.

  15. Totally sickening way to kill a much loved character especially one due to be a father. Dont know if I can carry on watching. It made me feel like just wandering off into the woods...

  16. I have been watching since the get go....and I swore if HE cut Carl's arm off I would never watch again, it was way over the top for me as the draw has always been the adventure of survival...not the brutality of it.

  18. I have watched The Walking Dead from day one... but made the decision to not watch this episode... I thought it would be waaay over the top gory and too graphic for me and i think i was right... Somehow killing zombies and having blood and guts everywhere is different then the same brutal killing of the characters we have come to know and love... As my husband said... people have no imagination anymore thats why they have to show it so graphically... Its one thing to die at the hands of a zombie and quite another to die by another human being...

The Walking Dead has been 'walking' away from me for awhile now.. I know they are just following the comic book ( which i've never read) but i no longer care for the story lines...I liked it when they were headed to the CDC for a possible cure... or when Eugene was taking them to DC for a possible cure.. it gave the show purpose and direction.. and i think i needed that to keep me interested... I dislike it when they get bogged down in 'communities'.. Hugs! deb

  20. Ooops, sorry, messed up that last comment, ha.

I will counter those who didn't like it. I felt it stayed true to its roots. What is good, what is bad, how far away from one or the other are people...lets remember, Rick and his crew killed Neegan's people Brutal, terrible killings. Great dichotomy of feelings and perceptions. We're all of course team Rick and hate Neegan now, but think about it...what if we were watching a show for 7 seasons about Neegan and his people trying to survive...and then Rick and Glenn and all the others came in and brutally killed his people while they were asleep in their beds? We'd be equally shocked and angry but from the other side.

This really shows the question inherent in the show's title....who really ARE the Walking Dead? The zombies? Or those that are just trying to survive?

Can't wait to see where this season goes.

  21. I have been saying that for days! Abraham gave a ballsy departure and Glen, I will find you, made me cry like a baby. I'm not sure I can watch this much violence. It sickened me, not the sight of blood, but the lost of humanity.

I hope stoic Winnie has recovered nicely.

Rest and enjoy the remainder of your week.

  22. The writers/producers etc went way over the top. Won't be watching anymore. Yes, I know in the comics Glen was killed, but the sadistic torture porn of that episode was too much. The fans have followed these characters for years - it's not like watching a gory movie where you're not emotionally involved. There is enough violence, brutality and hate in this world without watching it on a TV show.
