Snippet

At 4pm Mrs Trellis could be seen tottering through the village holding a heavy saucepan.
She was somewhat red faced and puffing like a steam train when I passed her on the opposite footpath of the main road
" Is the Prof in? " she gasped " I've made you both a rice pudding"

    2. Don't you mean 'closer to mine than yours?' Even that is probably not true. Do you mean those sweet frogs which jump put of train windows in Harry Potter?

    3. She is indeed your age! I know that may smart, but it's true

    4. She's a bit young for tottering. Was she pissed? I always thought she was in her 80s from your past descriptions

    3. Look up the You Tube video of a hippo farting whilst wallowing in the shallows. It is - for once - truly awesome.

  8. I love rice pudding. It reminds me of school dinners. A dollop of jam in the middle. Did you enjoy it? X

  9. Try new "Trellis" milk puddings - sweet and hearty like Mrs Trellis herself. (cue Buster Keaton advertising jingle as animated frogs leap madly from a box)

  12. Rice pudding is one of my favorites. It sounds especially good as I'm on the day before colonoscopy clear liquids only diet. I am amazingly hungry.

  15. I'm strange, I only like tinned rice puddings .... they're easier to carry around the streets too 😊

  16. Such a nice thing to do! But then, what goes around comes around. I seem to recall a number of people there (including you) who make and do for each other. Lovely.

  21. Not for me but if it had been bread and butter custard with a dollop of rich cream and a smidgen of marmalade on the crust, I'd have torn the door off its hinges. That's the trouble living alone, too hard to make for one, easy to make for two and eat the lot.

  25. As my grandmother aged her knees became very painful. I once caught her peeing in the rice pudding bowl, I guess she just couldn't face the stairs. I didn't let her know I'd seen her but I struggled with her rice puddings henceforth.

  26. I wish we had neighbours like yours. I grew up with neighbours who'd have a chat and a cuppa over the garden fence. The area where I live now doesn't attract that kind of person. They live behind gated drives and don't want to know. Hopefully, we're moving in the next couple of years.

  27. Sounds like there was more steam coming from Mrs Trellis than coming from the rice pudding.

  28. Off to make one right now, my all time favourite pud, but has to be home made with a nice thick skin!
