    1. Let's hope John catches an apostrophe on his fishing trip. They're slippery little buggers.

Don't fall for the bait, it's just a red herring, he's just throwing us a line and carping on.

  13. The apostrophes were out of season, so just bide your time and he'll catch one on another trip.... we all know what he meant, so we can keep calm and carry on, can't we!

  25. I like to think of John, sitting there with the pole and all warm and comfy, in that quiet meditative way that fishing needs .. no talking, no discussing, just sit there, be quiet, watch , look, listen, enjoy and if you are lucky, dinner will be very fresh and tasty.
My dad took me fishing with him when I was 6. I caught more than he did, he didn't take me again.
My grandfather took me fishing, in the mountains, we camped overnight, caught a lot of fish ( well, he did) and dinner was good.
I don't like the idea of killing the fish but the sitting and being quiet part is lovely. I have let go more fish than I have taken home :) Enjoy, John ... it is good for you .

No, Rachel, you didn't [hear Rambler the first time]. You never will. Still, I suppose we could all do a fundraiser to send you to charm school, chisel the edges of the diamond you are. Rising like Phoenix out of the ashes. Unless, of course, you'll argue that your dog can't be taught new tricks. Though I will concede that since my intervention some time ago you do have curbed your generous sprinkling of swear words.

  35. John, I hope you enjoyed your outing. For me, I didn't leave home but my weekend has been enjoyable. Simple things, bring me joy. I prepared a roast with the trimmings of onions, potatoes, and carrots. I made a pistachio pineapple fruit salad. I throughly enjoyed watching Tennessee Vols and Texas A&M football. The gamer had a friend over so I ordered them pizza. Zayn, my grandson, is here too. Laughter lulled from upstairs. My cats enjoyed being outside on a beautiful October day. I leave my door open so if they get spooked can come in quickly. Tonight will be another story. Our election this year is so troubling. I will listen to the debate after church.
