More Workmen

The workmen arrived promptly at 8am.
Mrs Frazer saw their van parked in the field gateway and raised her eyebrows again!
" More work? They MUST have come into money" She thought.
The two cheerful workmen who looked 18 and 12 respectively got on with the work in hand with some gusto and were watched happily by Winnie who enjoyed giving their tool boxes the once over with solemn eyes  . ( no euphemism was intended btw)
She finally had to be removed from the proceedings when she found a kitkat shoved down by the wrenches and became all unnecessary over it and even then she wasn't happy until one of the boys had given her a kiss goodbye.
Upset at her re location, she has spent the rest of the morning alone.....doing a perfect imitation of a Russian Babushka

Speaking of Russian Babushkas , I spied Gaynor the mad organist outside the church. She was in fine fettle and had been busy appropriating flowers from Animal helper Pat's garden for her flower arrangement class.
I presume Pat knew she's been running amok with her  secateurs

  1. Russian babushka? Winnie looks like a high court judge about to deliver her verdict. "Guilty! Send him down!"

The court officials grab Gray's arms and lead him to the cells as he screams out, "No your honour! It wasn't me!" Those assembled in the public gallery whoop and applaud.

"Order! Order!" yells Judge Winnie, banging her gavel.

  9. Awww.. My mother in law was born in Russia, a Jewish child in a place that was not kind to Jewish people .. she and her brothers were put on ships and sent to live with relatives they had never met, to be safe and free ... their parents were never seen or heard from again. I have one old yellowed photo of the family, my mother in law a tiny girl, with her parents and brothers .. that tiny girl with the little scarf on her head . she lived to be 101 ... oh the stories she could tell <3

  14. From this report, it seems as if your village is settling into a more gentle atmosphere. Hoping that calm lasts long enough for you to get some rest.

  15. Weren't you even moved by her whimpering when she was removed? (I assume there must have been or does she sulk silently?). I know that just being aware of her sadness would have broken me. However, it's okay for you people with thick skins......

    1. LOL ... "you people with thick skins "
But I , too , would have been oohing and awning over her and would not have been able to make her sad.

    2. "Thick skins" was tongue in cheek, NFA. I know full well that despite J.G.'s 'hard man' exterior, it's only a thin veneer for the cream puff underneath.

  16. She'd make a great dog to take visiting Rest homes, they'd love making a fuss of her and she'd be in seventh heaven with the attention

    1. Yes indeed.
I used to know someone that had a little terrier .. one of those little cute white ones .. she took her to nursing homes, the pup sat on the old peoples laps and the old women would talk to her and she would listen. It was ridiculously sweet and heart breaking at the same time.

  20. Winnie is such a big part of your life now isn't she? that face, those looks, those daft things she gets up to. Life can surprise us when people or animals come into or leave it and alter our everyday. x

  25. Could borrow some from Candice on bake off. A nice Plum perhaps. Is she like this with all strange men or just workmen. By strange I mean not known not to her not weirdos? I love the towel to cool her ardour. I need a damp towel but not cos I am a rampant lady cos I'm a certain age and have dodgey personal thermostat.
