Innuendo

Candice- a star in the making

Episode 2 of The Great British Bake Off had some cracking double entendres
Mel flirted with the camp Rav about how stiff his icing was with the purr " Can I warm your bag with my hands?"
Mary agreed to do a bit of carpet munching
And best of all, when Candice brought forward her model gingerbread pub , she asked Mel to  help with the call " Can you come and grab my jugs?" ( jugs of ale of course)
Thoroughly British
Thoroughly filthy
and Thoroughly funny!

  1. When my son read Keith Richard's memoir, he said, "I love it. It's so British. So sweet and so dirty."
    You reminded me of that.

    1. Not much at this point. We don't expect things to get exciting until around 2:00 a.m. My hope is that I sleep right through it.

You usually do, in fact, you seem to delight in stupid inane replies to inane and juvenile comments

  3. I don't quite know how carpet munching would arise as a double entendre in a baking show. I would have thought a reference to licking the bowl would have been much more likely.

    1. The carpet in question was the " floor" of a gingerbread pub

  7. She sounds like a worthy successor to Talbot Rothwell, scriptwriter of the later (and better) 'Carry Ons'.

Hard to imagine that Mary Berry could have realised what she was actually saying!
A parade of double-entendres like that is the sort of thing that makes Bake Off so much more entertaining than Masterchef, which takes itself far too seriously.

  10. Loved it. So far Candice is my favourite to win - but as we know from previous years, anythingcan happen. Do you think the innuendo is always intended or does it just emerge? I often wonder.

  11. I think it was intended, and it was indeed very Carry on funny.

  12. There is a huge poster advert here in Bath featuring a pretty woman and a carpet cleaner. I can't remember the exact wording, but it says something like, 'Get deep down in your rug.' I don't think they meant it.

    1. Trust me - someone at the ad agency wanted to see if they could get away with it

  13. I've been able to watch the Bake Off on Youtube a day or two after it airs...I love it. Television in the UK is much superior to US. So many great programs.
