The " Feeders" & Jason Bourne

On the opposite part of the village, in a neat little house live Rosemary and her husband Bernard- the- German.
They are a sweet couple who spend a great deal of their time cooking, baking, preserving fruits, pickles and making jams.
I found myself at their door last night, selling my 356 th raffle ticket and within seconds of ringing the door bell Rosemary was spooning me dollops of mango curd , lemon curd followed by  fruity sharp lime marmalade in an impromptu taste test....all of it going on , on the doorstep in full view of the people living opposite. Who must of thought it slightly strange that husband and wife were soon feeding a rather robust looking middle aged man stood on their doorstep!

By the time the mango pickle came out, I was feeling just a little nauseous, so I said my goodbyes, weighed down with jars of jam in my raffle bag.

I'll leave you with a brief review of Jason Bourne. We went to see it this evening.

Ok if you like watching Matt Damon walking quickly down corridors

Loved Bourne Identity, but after that they became more confusing with every movie. Can't be arsed to try any more.

    1. It takes some of us, almost that many words to introduce ourselves.

  4. So i take it Jason Bourne wasn't very good??? I love the franchise and was a little concerned when the put Jeremy Renner in for Bourne Legacy.... but i ended up LOVING it with him in it... you? i think anyone who didn't give Legacy the time of day because Damon wasn't in it just missed out! But now they bring Damon back and honestly i think he's looking a little old for the part... i could have happily let him go even though i loved him in the earlier Bournes and just let Renner run with it.... Love to know your thoughts..... Hugs! deb

  5. Homemade mango pickle and lemon curd, you truly are pampered by your other side of the village neighbors.

  6. It's a good thing you are well known, John, or people would look at you sideways standing on steps being fed ...

  7. I would opt for the curds, marmalade and pickles over Damon any day, he has begun to remind me of an aging “Pool Boy” who has not realized he has passed his prime for some roles. Just my personal observations…

  8. I won't feel bad if I miss it, I will see it on TV eventually anyway.
The first ones were so good ...
Lemon curd on hot scones right out of the oven .. sigh ~
Homemade orange marmalade on anything .. sigh ~
I considered learning how to make my own ... it was easier to buy it in the market .. Dundee :)

  9. Saw it, but . . .
the original, earlier ones have more energy, better
    story lines.
    In my humble opinion . . .

  10. I delight in your story of selling raffle ticket #356 and getting fed at the door. Surprised a line didn't form behind you!

  14. Today I was trying to get my very silly old Austrlorp hen back into the chook pen, over the amazingly (apparently) scary concrete slabs I had just put down to stop quendas digging under the gate, and over whence her smarter orange companions had already gone. As I did the mad chicken dance, back and forth, back and forth, arms spread, cursing her gently as she made her slow questioning bok? noises, showed me her fluffy knickerbockers, and refused to go the right way in her trundling fashion, for some reason you came to mind. Probably just because it is the sort of thing you'd have written about, but you would have told the story much more amusingly, and probably fallen on your arse as well. :D

  15. Considering some of Mr. Damon's views, I'll be just as happy never again watching anything he's in. On the other hand, I'll be giving myself the pleasure of watching Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant in Florence Foster Jenkins as a slightly belated birthday gift.
Do you have any idea how long it's been since I was able to brave a modern movie theatre? Well do you?? ;-)

  16. Great review. We will probably wait to hire it and I shall fall asleep then ask the family what happened x

  17. You have never described yourself as "robust" before... "strong and rich in flavour or smell".

  19. Knowing what you write about, I was a bit confused by "when the mango pickle came out," but then I remembered that you hadn't yet mentioned actually EATING a mango pickle. What a relief.

Maybe I'll got to the "movies" today. I woke up saying I was in the mood to see Matt Damon run down corridors.

  21. The first Bourne film is still the best in my opinion.

Too many chases in this one, and I must be getting old I just sat there thinking about how many innocent people would have been killed if it was all real.

We went to see The Mousetrap at Venue Cymru last week and I fell asleep halfway through the second half .... I had to ask LH who did it :-)

    1. I trust you didn't tell, Sue. Although I only got to see the actual play about 2 years ago I've known who did it for over 50 years (from someone who saw it shortly after it opened in London) - and I've managed to keep my lips zipped all this time. Well, ALMOST managed.

  22. "Bourne" has gotten mediocre reviews here in the US so, though I loved the first film and have seen it numerous times, I'm going to skip this iteration.
