Jupiter!

I wondered what the bright star was on the other side of the bright moon
when I was on the way home this evening
Thanks to village  night sky boffin Dave S
Who shared this photo of the Moon AND JUPITER
How fantastic is that?

On a micro level, George lost his canine tooth today,
His attack on Mary seems to have had a disastrous effect on old teeth

Ps

 is what Blogger says :
Dear bloggers,
As we mentioned some weeks ago, starting this week, we’ll remove the ability for people with Twitter, Yahoo, Orkut or other OpenId providers to sign in to Google Friend Connect and follow blogs. To follow a blog via Google Friend Connect now, readers will need a Google Account (the same they use for Gmail or YouTube). There will be no need for readers to be signed in, or to have a Google+ profile.
What does this mean for you and your blog? We’ll remove non-Google Account profiles so you may see a decrease in your blog follower count
What can you do now? You should encourage your users to re-follow your blog using a Google account. Another way to allow users to follow your blog is with the “Follow by Email” gadget, which requires you to set up Feedburner. By subscribing to your blog, readers will be notified via e-mail every time there is a new post.
We know how important followers are to all bloggers, but we believe this change will improve the experience for both you and your readers !!!!!!!

  3. Hey, Jupiter never looked that good from New York !!

I don't know how I feel about that Google acct thing.
I am preparing to drive .... alone with 2 cats ... from NY to Fl.
    I can't worry about Jupiter now !!

  5. Thanks for the reassuring news. I think that Google is striking off a follower for every pound paid in UK taxes.

If you look at Jupiter through even low-power binos, you will see a string of moons, one side or the other.

  6. You know Google's mantra used to be "do no evil". It seems that sometimes they have forgotten that.

  7. I'm going to do my same old thing - if I end up with no blog or followers - oh well, I am getting to old to play yet another game.

  8. Oh, poor George - that must have hurt, poor old fellow. Will your vet need to have a look to make sure it's not getting infected or need the root removed? I have ongoing teeth issues and on-again, off-again aching connected with my sinuses, and it's nearly driving me foolish with the pain. Again I say, poor George!

  10. Awww George feel better soon.
This January has all five bright planets in a row.
Mercury, Venus, Saturn Mars, Jupiter. You have till about 20 February to see this.

This makes me really want to get a telescope ! I am thinking this might be the year. The photo by Dave is wonderful.

    cheers, parsnip and thehamish

  15. Amazing image!

And thanks for that blogger info. I worried at first when I saw my followers drop by 7 (that's a lot when you've only got 130 to begin with), but then I noticed other blogger friends' followers had dropped significantly, as well. Poor you. I wonder how long before you're back at 1,000.

  16. Either my eyes are too old or my iPhone screen is too small, but I can't see anything in that photo but the moon and a whole lot of black. Will have to try it on my computer monitor and will report back.

Pooh on Google. Who do they think they are?

    1. I'm back. Spotted Jupiter with my computer monitor. Little white dot in the upper left corner, right?

      It's much brighter in person.
