Well Done Prof!

I saw this shot on the Professor's twitter page.
The caption read  " Having a sneaky sleep with Albert"
It amused me.
The Professor, like all successful academics seldom has " down time" He is constantly working and when he's not working, he's thinking and planning work.
It can be an exhausting, never ending vocation.
And so it's lovely when you see that all of his hard work has paid off like it did yesterday, for yesterday the Prof was appointed as the new " Head " of the entire School of Healthcare sciences at the University

I'm very proud of him and his strength of character when it comes to work, but his world at the University remains a bit of a mystery to me in many ways, but I always say to him ( with my tongue firmly put into cheek)
That I am the " wind beneath your wings"

And what a telling picture of Albert. There is a look in that cat's eyes
which is worth a thousand words. Wise animals cats.

  9. Rats, Yorkshire Pudding already used the line I was going to use. Congrats to the Prof- that's quite a position of responsibility. Honestly, it sounds from your posts, that you do keep the daily chores taken care of so that he does not have to think of things like animal care, meals, shopping, cleaning... Oh, and thank you for putting Bette Midler singing in my head this morning. -Jenn

Such nice words in every comment. I will get to the point. Does that mean more pay? You may well one day be a person who gives orders to minions about looking after the animals.

  28. Congrat to the Prof. You must be very proud of him. And Congrats to you too John. There's something to be said for keeping home and hearth (and beasties too) in good working order. It makes the Prof's life a little easier not having to worry about those things. Three scotch eggs for you!!!

  30. Well done, Professor Chris! This has been a banner year for him... and you too, John!

I work in what we call 'academic medicine', in other words the medical school. We have a school of medicine, nursing and dentistry. I have an idea of what he does at work and honestly, I'd rather be walking the dogs and collecting the eggs. :-) Still, we need the high fliers to get shit done! And, as everyone else has said, he couldn't do it without you, Windy. xoxo

  42. Well done to the Prof ... and to you .... 'the wind beneath his wings'.

Behind every good man is a man with a pack of baying hounds, a flock of birds and a puss cat ... and in mine and Lovely Hubby's case a woman with a pack of baying hounds, a flock of birds and a puss cat.

We are walking very similar paths and living very similar lives, we must keep eating those beans to keep our men airborn ;-)

  43. Just make sure he doesn't overdo it. Being a Head of School on top of all his normal work is a tough gig. Remind him to take some regular R&R to recharge his batteries.

  52. On this cruise I just left, I had drinks one evening on board with a gay couple, he's a doc, when his partner was asked, he described himself as 'just another doctor's wife'. Seriously. From New England, they were in their late 30's, early 40's, affluent, one conservative, the 'wife' not so much.
Anyway, I ended up liking the 'wife' a lot, the other not so much. The doc said he liked the cruise like so much because "they know how to treat me, like I deserve". I wondered if he was serious, a glance from his partner assured me he was.
Anyway, sounds like you've got a 'goodun' there, John.
    Cheers,
    Mike
