Adele

I'm loving Adele
She's 27
Dresses like my mum did in the 70s
And is as nice as pie

  1. Adelle is beautiful as is her new song. Saw a recent interview with her , she is a lovely woman.

  2. Thinking of all the divas out there who don't sound nearly as great as Adelle and act so entitled and conceited. She is my favorite!

    2. David Bowie, Anthony Newly, Ian Dury, Ray Davis... I could go on...

    3. Anthony Newly can make me run screaming from the room... my Grandmother D adored him and played his music constantly. Argh!

  4. Oh my gosh, I LOVE Adele!!! My kids and I have completely different tastes in music, but they agree that Adele is amazing! You don''t just listen to her music, you FEEL it!

  5. Coming back to live in the US ... Adele was like getting a gift. I had never heard of her or heard her sing ... she is one of those gifted singers who don't come along that often .
She is truly amazing to listen to .. that voice .. amazing.

  6. She's a true artist, isn't she ?

  7. Thanks for posting this song. She is amazing.

  8. Doesn't she have a glorious voice? She's beautiful. She does't dress like my mum during the '70s. My mum wore ugly polyester pants suits. I think the worst was a blue jumpsuit. She didn't have the figure to wear a jumpsuit.

    Love,
    Janie

  9. How funny. I've just been listening to Hello on repeat for the last half hour and watching her video. Massive girlie crush on her. Stunning woman and amazing voice.

  10. She is funny and has so much personality - just a bit tired of her music..yawn!

  11. I am totally with you, John! It was fun to see her on SNL, and loved the skit of the Thanksgiving dinner with the family and the song "Hello."

I'm not very aware of her music but I did like Skyfall in a James Bond movie.

  13. Everybody - no matter how mainstream or underground their musical tastes - seems to dig Adele. I don't know how she manages that.

  14. I think part of her appeal is she isn't easily put into one category. The kind of music she sings, the way she sings, her voice ... my god that voice.
She is a sort of stand alone in her category ..

  15. She comes from a period when the UK had a really great stable of female singers.

  16. Have only just 'discovered' her myself. Amazing character.

  17. Gorgeous voice, gorgeous woman.

  18. I don't like her singing at all. So there! Most of the time, in whatever song, I haven't a clue what she's singing about. If she took half the trouble with pronouncing her consonants as she does with yelling her pretty head off then I might change my mind.

    1. I'm still waiting for her to do a cheerful song....three whole albums that make me want to climb into a warm bath and open a vein....

She's got a beautiful singing voice, but when she speaks, ugh, its like fingernails on a blackboard! I'm with Raybeard on this, her speaking voice is dreadful, and that North London/Essex girl accent is truly appalling!

    3. Much relief that the sky hasn't fallen in (yet) after my comment - and from later comments I see that I'm not alone.

  19. Did you see the Adeles on Graham Norton meets Adele show ? So funny, you can get it on youtube if you haven't seen it. Hate to correct but the new album is called 25 because she is 25 !!! Amazing voice.

Did you know Emily Sande's real name is Adele so decided to use Emily so not to clash !

To correct your 'correction'.....Adele is NOT twenty five, she's twenty seven! The album being titled '25' in absolutely nothing to do with her age. Her album '19’ is about her life at that age, the album '21’ was released 2 years after that, and this new album comes four years later....21+4=25!
Yes, I know, I'm being pedantic, but John's right, she's 27, and it does rather rile me when someone is 'corrected' when they weren't wrong!

    2. Tut tut. We can all make mistakes. No need to get riled about it.

    3. Anonymous3:13 pm

It wasn't the mistake that riled me, it was the 'hate to correct' with three exclamation marks at the end!
Before 'correcting' anyone, it pays to check one's facts!

  20. PS my mum was very stylish in the 70s. I loved her sheepskin coat, short skirt & suede boots; she had great legs !

  21. My poor mother, the wild girl from California, was stifled in the 70s .. she lived in North Carolina. Nothing like living in the US South in those days to have your spark smothered. No wonder she got divorced and fled to NYC ..

  22. I think this may be my all time favorite of hers, I cannot stop listening to it, you look like a movie, sound like a song.....what a line.

  23. I just downloaded 25. I love the music, but I love her, too.

  24. I cannot stand her voice, She sounds like a pub singer. Not quite as bad as the warbling Duffy but not my sort of singer at all.

    1. I need to go to more pubs then !

    2. Hehe the trouble with pubs is if you drink enough, everything sounds good. I say this being the proud owner of several cds from pub bands.

i'll go ahead and admit it here publicly.
    omg.
i have been coming here every day... after all you're in my favorites bar.
calling all cars. still? "why isn't he posting?" a break? just as i have rediscovered him?

  26. Yes John, I must say Adele looks very wholesome and she has a perfect voice. Are you watching Strictly this time - you haven't said muchabout it so far.

  27. Is anyone else impressed with her absolutely flawless complexion!? I know British women are known for beautiful skin but hers is ridiculous !!

  28. Anonymous3:30 pm

It's nice to hear someone sing who just stands there and opens their mouth...no dancing or backup singers or flash...just a beautiful voice.

Clearly I'm in a minority here, but I just wish Adele would shut the hell up.

  30. Adele is a wonderful human being!! She was interviewed on CBC last night. What a sweetheart and down to earth gal!! She dresses like my mom did too, John!!

  31. Sorry, John, I'm with Raybeard here - can't see what there is to rave about, and the song is totally tuneless. But you know what they say - it wouldn't do for us all to be the same.

  32. Thank you for posting something other than "Hello." I hear it about 5 times a day on the radio, and the shine is going to wear off very soon.

  33. She has a wonderful voice, and after watching her on Graham Norton she seems so lovely and down to earth. I loved the fake 'Adele' auditions that she took part in :-)
