Autumn

You can tell it's suddenly gone all autumn
For I've picked the last of the flowers from the garden
There was just enough to half fill the smallest of glass jugs.

Not much to report today, except that when I was making a fish pie at the same time as  feeding the dogs, I got the spoons mixed up
and coped a load of dog food down the old gullet.
I wonder if I have to add it to my fat club sins?

  2. Just can't bear the thought John, although Imix the food for Tess and get the sandwiches for tea at the same time and I am always afraid of leaving bits of tinned Pedigree on the work surface.

  3. Of course you will have to confess all, there's bound to be lots of naughty sins in dog food ;-)

  4. Eeeeuw. Shuddering at the thought. Mind you I suspect it would be a fat club bonus for me, because it would put me off food for the rest of the day.

    So how was it???

  6. No but if you get a sudden urge to lick your butt in the middle of the street then I would confess.

  7. I have only a few blooms left here in northern Vermont...some Jerusalem artichokes and a few brave (or maybe just late) phlox. Happy autumn..!

  8. Today i almost ate one of my grandson's dog's sanck because it looks like the snacks that my son brings every time from Finland.

  9. I have two cats.
Yes, it is required that all widows live with cats. sigh~
Their food smells so bad that there is no likelihood of anyone getting those spoons mixed up ... blech ~

  10. My elderly uncle was an overnight guest and told me in the morning he really appreciated the snacks we had in a glass jar on the kitchen counter when he woke up during the night and was a little hungry. He said his wife hid all the snacks at home. I just couldn't tell him he ate about 1/2 cup of cat treats!!

  15. Just come across from Gail's blog ... and goodness what a mix up in your cooking!!

Do like the colours of your flowers - but Autumn can provide us with some very nice late flowering blooms.

    All the best Jan

  17. A lesson in there, always look and smell before you put the spoon in your mouth. If I always did that, I might eat less.

  18. Now that's scary...how did it taste?

  19. No, birthday cake and dog food don't have calories :)

  20. That's okay - we have some dog treats that are all natural. My son eats them.

  21. OK you have to tell us what did it taste like? Did you gag at the thought or did you go "hmm, not so bad"??

I'm surprised they aren't eating dog food yet on Walking Dead....they're bound to run out of cans of pudding and sardines eventually, ha.

  22. Yuk, John! Glad that our dogs eat kibble..
Judging by our nicely "rounded" Labs, we'd say that dog food is quite fattening. You'll need to get the Prof to throw a tennis ball or two for you, so you can run about and work off the excess !

  23. The only bad thing I'd get out of my dog food is maybe a few gritty bits since I am a bit slack about washing their greens before cooking their 'vegie glop and rice". (Considering how much dirt they like to get in their mouths all on their own, I don't see this as much of an issue.) Anything to do with their raw meat, especially chicken, ooh, no thanks! I'm very careful there!

  24. Poor John, having to confess such a peculiar sin in public... you might want to record the reaction for our viewing pleasure.

I'm sure it would go viral. ;-)

  25. Hmmm...I am not sure about the calorie content of dog food. I think you're entitled to write that one off. :)

Your flowers are looking better than ours. Ours are pretty much withered away at this point -- except our cosmos, which are still hanging on.

  26. Fish pie or dog food. Not sure if I could tell the difference.
