  15. She is better behaved than every dog we have ever had who would have helped themselves as soon as your cruel and uncaring back was turned. So would our cats.

  16. Winnie obviously shows great focus and concentration . Even a super dog who saves her best cat friend deserves cake.....

  20. Ginger cake? That sounds yummy. Is this a secret family recipe or can you share? I'm guessing Winnie is frustrated that she does have the leaping ability superpower. ;-)

  21. Recipe please? When you consider the scent sensibility of dogs it must be dog-a-licious (and people-a-licious)? !

    1. Sounds very similar (minus the ginger) to what we call a pound cake here...it gets its name from a 'pound of eggs, pound of flour, pound of sugar and pound of butter'.

  23. Winnie is the same colour as the ginger cake. Perhaps she was thinking, "So that's how baby bulldogs are made!"

  27. Bless her! One of mine used to sit by things the same way and roll her head back at me like seal, as if to say, "Can't you see what I want here? Are you blind?"

  28. Winnie has great powers of concentration and she's dedicated to her task. Could I borrow her to show my high school students what this looks like??

  30. Go on John - give the poor girl a taste - just a smidgen off a corner - the Prof won't mind !

  31. I bet W's salivating would have given Pavlov much satisfaction - but there's a limit, surely. Go on, give her a bit, and I don't mean just crumbs.

  32. I'm going to have to make one now....it's one of my favourites.....and that is a very...particular... look on her face isn't it? did you have to cover the cake when you were in the other room? was it still standing when you came back in?

  34. I love ginger and your cake must be a winner if Winnie's attentions are anything to go by!
Winnie, I do think you should insist that the next baking session involves a liver and parsley cake! And make sure you get the largest slice.
