Kitchen Window

I'm looking out of the back kitchen window, over the washing up, thinking that the cottage sounds all rather quiet.
All I can hear is the rain.
Chris will be shortly walking down the aisle of Westminster Abbey with his floppy Prof hat on and Sorrel will be approaching Broadstairs by train, complete with several new outfits, and a bagful of plants for her garden.
Funny how quiet a place becomes after guests have left.

Ps I found the  " slippers of seduction" in the rubbish bin after Sorrel left!
Tee hee

  3. There is a warm satisfaction in the quietness after guests leave - a time to reflect and, perhaps, rejuvenate. At the moment I'm listening to the rain here in Tennessee.
    That's a lovely photo.

  10. Yes - just how I feel when folk have gone. They might be hard work while they are there but I do miss them.
I can't believe you have aquelegia out in your garden - ours are not even in bud. And what gorgeou colours too.

  11. I love having guests. I love it a tiny bit more when they leave and me and the hounds can get back to our happy, slapdash, way of life. x

  12. Do they allow men to have their head covered in churches these days? Not the last time I went to one which was.....hmmmm, let me see.
Next thing, I suppose, is that women will be permitteed NOT to cover their heads! Ah, plus ca change!

  13. Lovely picture. You need to take a photo of the Prof all garbed up in his Prof robes and that lovely hat!

Do they have pills for bitches in heat? If they do, Winnie sure needs one!

  19. I think you should rescue those slippers and the next time she comes set them on the floor in the guest room. I love having the house full of guests but really love the quiet when they have all gone.

  20. Your so good, putting fresh wildflowers in your cottage John. You should have a regular slot on your blog titled " Windowsill Wednesday ' !!!! I bet Chris had a wonderful day ……. Westminster Abbey is so atmospheric. I remember when our son sang there and we sat in the choir. XXXX

  22. I'm relishing the quiet tonight after a day with Grandaughter No. 2 who is 9-months old, then Grandaughter No. 1 who I collect from school in the afternoon. When I took them home to their own house, their Mummy had left the key in the lock so we were effectively locked out. I then had to pile them all back into the car, alongwith pushchair and all baby-related paraphenalia and hotfoot it to my own gaff where I gave them their tea and awaited the arrival of their Mummy to collect them after she finished work (my son is working away at the moment so he's off the hook for now!). It has taken a good couple of hours to get my normally sedate and pristine house back together.....but I love every minute of looking after such precious cargo.....I'd like to do it everyday if I didn't have to go to work! Happy Election Day for tomorrow. I know who I'm NOT voting for! x
