Stuffing

Sometimes I can plan a really well crafted, entertaining, and well written blog entry
and only get  a couple of comments
So today, I thought I'd post this snippet of village life
and wonder just how many reactions I receive!
So,
I think we have a new postman
I've just heard him swearing by the front door after William snatched the post off him
as he pushed it through the letter box.
I didnt bother checking if any fingers have been nipped
I've been too busy stuffing cannelloni
William is now smiling to himself on the couch!
He loves the sport of frightening a new virgin postie

As you can see
It's a no news day today

  5. I love that description of the dog snatching the mail. My daughter's Yorkie used to tear up all mail dropped through the door. Guess it's the next best thing to attacking the postal worker.

  8. Veering off-course slightly: comments on blogs are interesting....some for the comment itself, others make you wonder why people comment. Clearly some have something to say, others seem to be similar to the non-meaningful things we say to people passing....'nice day', etc. A thoughtful research paper on the subject would be interesting.

Most of the blogs I read have fewer than 10 comments, some much fewer. Yours is the one that's the lone dot high up on the scatter graph, an outlier that statisticians ignore. Actually I think you could just post a picture of a stick on the path and get 40 or more comments.

I echo the comment above about the stuffing....is it ground beef with onions? I like a mixture of beef and pork with the onions and garlic.

    Cheers.

and a cat by the church.

Even your lowest comment count is higher than most.

  11. Does William actually eat the letters? If so they make a catch basket you can install inside the house to protect the postie AND the mail! I hope your Mother-in Law enjoys your considerable efforts....Bon appetit!

    1. Jan...william just likes to bark and pull the letters from his hand in order to scare.....its just a game

    2. I got a catch basket because Elsie also snatches the post. Unfortunately the bigger envelopes are too long and end up sticking out of the letter box instead of dropping. A good indication no one's home.

  12. I'm surprised that any postie puts their fingers through any letterbox. I used to deliver catalogues for a well known company and after almost having my fingers snapped by a yappy little dog on the other side of a door, I soon learned how to put the catalogues through without putting my fingers through!

  13. I probably seem like a food virgin but why are you stuffing them? With what? I go for the easiest dishes.

As a retired mail carrier I have dealt with many unruly dogs. I would have probably offered my fingers and had them bitten.

  26. I think many, if not most, folks have so much going on in their own lives that the more lighthearted posts draw them in; like going to see a comedy rather than a war movie.
Yesterday I received an email from a longtime blog friend, apologising for not reading or commenting on a post about a dog rescue the Great Scot and I participated in over the weekend. She'd recently lost a pooch, so for her it would have been a painful read. Anyway, if that made a lick of sense, it's what I think: People have so much going on in their lives that more serious blog posts may just feel like too much.

I think just by mentioning comments, you will get many. Your assertion is correct though. The posts you labour long and hard over often receive the least comments. While experienced bloggers know push button subjects, sometimes it is surprising when something you quickly dash off gets many comments.

  36. Fat hands...stuffing the postman...here's my obligatory comment.

Apropos of nothing, I was in the library today, frustrated by all the overdramatic offerings--steampunk mysteries, Amish romances, post-apocalyptic thrillers--and thinking, "I just want something realistic and...gentle. Like a novel John Grey would write."

So get on it already, wouldja?

    ReplyDelete
  37. I knew there was a reason we have our mailboxes on the outside of the house over here. The cannelloni looks delish!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ok, just checked with the Woman I Almost Got Involved With Some Years Ago, she said cannelloni has to have ricotta cheese, with either veal or lamb to be authentic. Just so you know, her family is from Sicily.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I know it's too late, but I would have liked to have seen a photo of the finished cannelloni all bubbly from the oven! Have you ever tried the big seashell pasta? It is sooooo much easier to stuff than the cannelloni and taste about the same.

There seems to never be a dull day in Trelawnyd, Wales! I think I spelled it right. I DO know how to pronounce it!! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Is the canneloni in honor of the MIL's visit? It looks delicious John. My Mom used to make the best Italian food even though she was of Scotch-Irish heritage. She made her filling with ricotta cheese, ground (minced) pork, Italian sausage & ground beef along with plenty of fresh sauteed mushrooms, garlic & parsley. God, I wish I had inherited my Mom's cooking skills. I can follow her recipes to a T & it still doesn't taste anywhere near as good as her version did.

William seems to be quite taken with stealing things lately. First teaching Winnie how to snatch Camilla's eggs & now the mail. Or was it the postman's fingertips he was really wanting to snack on? He's a regular little klepto.

You are almost always swimming in comments. If there is the occasional day where the count is down, I don't think it is related to the subject of the day (other than TWD reviews & people who aren't fan are clueless on what a great show they are missing out on). I love that your post are representative of your life - some are funny, some sad, some reflective & others you deserve a smack on the head for thinking, let alone writing down. They are almost always of a nature that most of us can relate to in our own lives, so I would guess that any reduction in your comment count is simply a reflection of whether people were too busy that day to write a comment. You aren't trying to get even more comments than usual by making us feel sorry for you - are you? Most blogs have a free give away when they want a gazillion extra comments. Maybe you could offer a prize of one of Winnie's fanny wipes to the lucky person who leaves a comment for you that day. That would surely increase the number of comments left.be the best way to set a record for comments left for you.
