Wedding Gifts and The Walking Dead

We had some lovely wedding gifts...and I am in the process of writing to everyone who was kind enough to send us something.
We didn't expect anything at all
We had John Lewis vouchers ( be still my beating heart) some lovely dishes, crockery, and kitchen stuff. We were given apple trees, picture frames, some beautiful glassware, a hamper and ten bottles of champagne as well as theatre vouchers, gin and even a crystal electric light.
We also had some money which we will buy some antique silver with...sonething for us to remember the day with.
I am also looking forward in experiencing one of our most eclectic of wedding pressies
I am also back at weightwatchers because if it- i dont want the oine bending too much
Watch this video to see what Chris and I will be doing!

I'll have wear a nappy

Daryl and niceguy gay Aaron!

Episode 13 of The Walking Dead , explored what it is like for traumatised individuals to try to acclimatise again to a normal and safer world. The bereaved Sasha  got mean and moody, Carol hoarded weapons and psychotically threatened a small child that caught her in the act and Abe got drunk at the " welcome to Alexandria " party, so it's clear that " team family" is having a pretty difficult time all told.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, will be , I am sure, the death knell for one of the main characters, but as we have only three episodes to go...it won't be long for die hard fans to find out who it will be.
I suspect with sadness that it may well be Carol......" Look at the cookies carol...look at the cookies"
Episode was Ok. With fourteen characters in team family and a further score of Alexandrians to be introduced to... I think the narrative now seems all a bit crowded.
Nice to see Daryl having a spaghetti dinner with gay could Aaron and Eric though... Who would have thought it?

  1. 10 bottles! I'm not so sure about the 80 mph zipline.

Did you hear there is going to be a spinoff of The Dead?

    http://www.rollingstone.com/tv/news/walking-dead-spin-off-confirmed-for-two-seasons-20150310

I think it is going to be over kill.

    1. Yes...i am dubious about the new series.......set in LA
      With a younger cast.....hummmmmm?

    2. The new series will also be a prequel they are saying...we'll get to see what the early days of the apocalypse were like. Apparently it started on the East coast and spread to the West coast, so that could be interesting. I'll watch since it's done by the same producers/writers/etc so they'll do a good job of at least putting it together.

  4. What lovely gifts you received - don't drink the champagne before going on the zipline, save it for after!

I can't contemplate Carol being deaded this series - or Daryl either!

It was a fairly low key episode - most of my sympathy was with the horse. I thought Carol was brilliant with the small child who followed her into the gun store. I hope that it kicks off a bit next week, I don't think all is as it seems in Alexandria and I want to know what it is all about really. Is there any connection, do you think, between the 'A' stamp that Rick needed to have on his hand and the 'W' that the walker seemed to have been branded with on the forehead - does Alexandria exclude people who don't fit? Do I think too much about this television programme and should I get more hobbies?!

  6. Congrats on your wedding again. So what are your thoughts on the parallel between Daryl and the horse? Pre - apocalypse caged and control, freed by the apocalypse to his true state, when corralled he dies.

    1. Ah...i see the connection now.......and that would fit in with daryl saying to Aaron " you tried to help him" meaning it was in fact he acknowledged Aaron was a nice guy and wanted to him him too

  9. Aieeeeeeeeeeee!!! and that's just after watching the video! Should be fun as long as you don't have a fear of heights, water, uncontrolled speed, or running into a bird!

Keep breathing is all I can say.
    Best fun gift ever !
I am not good with heights. Always skied better in a light snow fall so I couldn't see how high I was or how steep the slope.

    cheers, parsnip

  12. I have a whole new respect for you John. I would never ever ever jump off a building or out of a plane. Zipline, yes. They better not kill off Carol or Daryl.

  13. Otta your mind! But, have fun and tell us how terrifying it is.

  14. Rather you than me on the zipline John! I can't watch The Walking Dead as it is far too gory for me and I am going off Fortitude now after the latest episode which was horrific in all its gory detail!

  15. Fantastic zipline,, I want to have a go!!! Did a parachute jump in 1992,, brilliant. As for a spin-off for The W Dead,,, don't think I'd watch it.

  16. You are a braver man than me, I nearly cried in the cable car at the Heights of Abraham a couple of years ago. Cammy - Mummy, Mummy look how small those people are down there !! Me - I can't open my eyes, stop rocking us about, urgh !!!

  17. John,

The zip line looks like all kinds of fun!!!! I say go for it :-)

I believe the A= Alive on the Walking Dead, and the W = Walking for walkers.

  20. WOW, that zipline looks like wonderful fun!!! My 80 year old mother wants to do that on her next birthday and I'll be right there with her. I can hardly wait!...don't think I can convince her to skydive with me but I do want to have a go at that as well. :)

  21. The zipline!! how marvelous.....I want to book it for my son and dil ( and maybe me and the mister) 'cos although I am frightened of heights it looks great....Go Mr and Mr! x

  22. I did a series of ziplines in Maui and once you get over the initial terror, it's fun! Plus I felt like such a jock when I was all suited up for it. Have fun!

  24. Such lovely pressies!
I don't know which would bother me more - zipping over the water or the highway... Actually looks like fun to me. Enjoy!

  25. We have a pretty long zipline here at the Whitewater Center, but that Big Zipper has it beat. Looks like the next best thing to flying, but I'd have to suit up in a diaper for that ride! There must be more to Chris' Roger Moore act than the eyebrows.

  26. A friend of mine did this in Costa Rica while holding her 11 month old child. It will be an adventure, John.

  27. I meant that the child was strapped on to her, she was not holding him. Even so, that was crazy.

  28. I don't watch Walking Dead but I do follow it via your blog so.... if Carol is this season's hit the big question is..... what will Darryl do?

I can't wait to see Chris's perfect moustache in desabille by the zip wire.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Not Carol. No, no, NO. Nope, not havin' it.

    Silver? Hmmmm.

I'd love doing that zipline, my darling, however, would be a mass of terrified jelly just at the thought; poor dear. It all balances out, I'm claustrophobic.

  30. I'd need a fair bit of Dutch courage to go on that long zipline!! It looks like it goes over an abandoned strip mine?

    ReplyDelete
  31. The zip line will be exciting. 2nd Man would NEVER do that but I could be persuaded, ha. I know i"ve said congrats on several comments during the event but I'll say it again...congrats and much love to you both.

As for Walking Dead, I rather enjoyed it. I find I learn so much more about what the writers are thinking when I watch the after show (Talking Dead). I think the whole what is family and what isn't and fish out of water theme is interesting. Can't wait for the finale (now supersized at 90 minutes!).

  40. The zip line looks like a lot of fun! We had a homemade get-up when we were kids. The house kitty-cornered to ours housed a family with three boys. We ziplined on their very long clothesline, and when that wasn't quite long enough and we wanted more slope, they concocted something where we had to get up on their roof, and they had the line strung around in some way so we could start from the roof and go the length of their backyard.

We also took turns jumping off their roof in to a big pile of leaves. I only did that one afternoon, when my mother saw me and bade me come home.

  41. My daughter and her now ex boyfriend just enjoyed a journey along that self same zip line. She is so tiny they had to add weights to her suit. (I am 99.9 % sure that the ex bit has nothing to do with the zip bit, don't want to frighten you.)
