  3. We have a holocaust museum here in Houston....so incredibly moving and I was in tears upon leaving. Glad you had a furry buddy to be there for you. Animals know when we need them.

  4. Our animals know. They give what comfort they can. We could learn from them.

  5. Unconditional love of animals we would be in a right mes without them. Missy our Jack Russell is just the same. Not a nice thing to watch but then at the end of the day we are all custodians to stop it ever happening again.

  6. Sweet Winnie. Animals must wonder about humans sometimes.

  7. I watched that a long time ago. So incredibly moving. Tonight we watched Night Will Fall. We are the last generation with a connection to that terrible time.

Animals are amazing in how they respond to our emotions. They love unconditionally. I notice my dogs are very attentive to me if I am sad or unwell. Just looking at Winnie's face would make you feel better . In my teenage years I read and researched much about the holocaust . It still is such an unbelievable horror that I still struggle with watching documentaries about it . I too would be a crying mess watching the documentary . XXXX

  11. Hey John
I don't know how anyone could not be upset at Shoah...I am.
Thank you for all your comments in the recent past, appreciate them.
We are all iterations of carbon, and to that we'll return.

  12. I watched last week as the holocaust victims celebrated their anniversary of their liberation. It boggles the mind how humans treat their own kind. Good girl, Winnie! Good boy, Albert! What treasures they are....

  13. The seventieth anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz was a few days ago. To see some survivors at the those famous gates was very moving.

    Love,

  14. And I recently had someone comment on my blog suggesting that Churchill's strategy to end that awful war was wrong. There are apologists even for the vilest of acts.

  15. Nothing is more comforting than the quiet concern of a good dog.

  16. Your animals are so appreciative of you, John & will be there for you to offer comfort.
    So lovely.

  17. Good girl Winnie.

Albert was concerned, too, but didn't have the eyes and jowls to convey it.

The other night there was a brief interview on TV here with one of the remaining survivors. That alone brought tears to my eyes. I don't know if I could take watching two hours.

  18. I shall look out for this documentary....hopefully someone will post it up on YouTube eventually. (We don't have a TV) It is best that we don't forget, but I shall be deeply moved as well, which is not a bad thing because it means that I am as much of a sensitive soul as you are. And God bless your two pals for keeping a watch over you.

  19. We watched 4 hours of it last week. P was dumbfounded. We couldn't leave it even in seeing such terrible things. The farmers who saw the trucks going in but didn't know why and continued working in the fields, to hear them affected P very deeply. I think everybody should watch that documentary.x

  20. Thank you for touching the issue John.Last week the BBC and Sky news asked why do we have to remember the Shoah and may be it is the time to stop all the remembrance days.

    1. If we don't make the effort to remember then it will be all too easy to forget. And then the cycle too easily starts again. And that's why acts of remembrance are important.

  27. It's nice that dogs can understand our emotions, and sometimes they know that their very presence can help us feel better.
