Bollocks

Some days don't work out too well do they?
Only 24 hours after telling Chris I have not suffered a cold all year
I have come down with a stinker.
I went to bed early last night with a lemsip, thermal long johns and my lumberjack hat on
and subsequently was wide awake at 5 am
I walked the dogs,
Cleaned the cottage and fell back asleep and overslept.
This had the neighbours knocking on the door to see if I hadn't died in my sleep

When I hurried out to let the animals out, I fell over on the field.
I then drove down to Prestatyn to drop off my great neice's birthday pressie
and got a parking ticket.

Now I have earache and I have just dropped a tray of meatballs I've made for supper
It's only 12.30 pm too!
At least Albert has stopped limping
So I'm off for a hot bath with Vic
So will leave you with this video....
It did make me titter to myself

  1. Feel better soon John, and hope your day improves quickly.
By the by, in case I hadn't told you... The reason I originally checked out your blog was your name, lol. Growing up, I lived on the family farm which was located on: John Gray road. I keep hoping to get out there and take a photo of the road sign soon.
I stuck around for the smiles.

  3. colds are a pain in the rump.

Although I am really not a fan of the C word, this made me smile and chuckle. I think felt I had to watch Aida's other youtubes and have laughed a lot. I love the teacher one. and have shared it!

    Feel better soon!

  4. Ugh. Hope you feel better. Never court the fates by boasting of good health! I saw Fascinating Aida in concert a couple of years ago and I still laugh about it. The "Dogging" song -- hilarious!

  5. Try Hydrogen Peroxide in your ears. A few drops in one, let it bubble for a few mins, then do the other side.

Feel Better. The whole field depends on you.

    1. My thought exactly Sue, and I wonder if Chris knows about Vic. John is a man of many mysteries.

    2. That's what I was wondering. Vic?

  10. .....and to make your day even worse, just heard that Warren Clarke has passed away (not even as old as I am!). Oh, J.G., I'd suggest you try singing "Things can only get better" - but then visions of a smugly grinning T.Blair are hardly going to help.
Anyway, take satisfaction from the fact that you've undoubtedly cheered a lot of us up with this video of the ever-fine F.Aida.

  12. Sorry you haven't yet learned NOT to mention when your health is good. It goes right along with saying the dogs don't give you problems, and the auto is working fine. Somehow, someone wants to make liars of us all!
Get well soon, John. I'm sure you know all the home remedies - I stick by hot toddies, a good book, and bed rest.

  15. You need an hot whisky or vodka punch or two, John. Then go to bed and sweat the cold out.

  17. Re the parking ticket - was it a "real" one (council) or a speculative invoice (private company)? Either way, check out http://forums.pepipoo.com/ - much help there and, esp, if a private ticket, pretty much zero chance you will have to pay. Make sure you post in the correct forum though and upload paperwork (personal details redacted)

    2. Still worth a punt over at pepipoo - sometimes the councils get it wrong...

  18. John, a hysterical post, especially when you dropped the meatballs and also the bit where you fell over, couldn't stop laughing on the train just now. Thanks. xxx

  23. Does Chris know about Vic? Is he the window cleaner? I hope you emerge from your nasty cold real soon. Try rubbing half a pound of lard over your chest and chewing on a raw parsnip. It always works for me.

  25. Titter, indeed. Get well, get up, and get going.

Watched Hinterland yesterday. May have to use sub-titles next time.
Mattias is indeed a handsome man---your distant cousin perhaps?

  27. Get well soon John. The reason you haven't had a cold all year is you don't STOP long enough to catch a cold! x

  28. On and on and on... Only joking! Get well soon. X

  29. I hope your cold is over quickly. Just think, you will be healthy again when half the village is down with it.

And like so many others, I was racking my brain as to who Vic was!

  31. I love Fascinating Aida, when I went to one of their shows I popped outside in the intermission and there was Dillie walking her little dog. Had a lovely chat with her.

  35. There, there John, sleep well to the lullaby of bulldog snores. Hopefully getting this out of the way now means you'll be perfectly healthy for all the holiday folderol (sp?). No excuses next month for being a c...ranky little bitch, y'hear?

  37. I'm sorry you don't feel well, but I like the video. I had a bad day, too. I have to back my car out of a narrow space between my house and a fence. I thought I was clear of the fence today and sped up. Crunch! I knocked off the driver's side mirror. It's a good thing I have Favorite Young Man, Best Mechanic In The Universe, to fix it for me.

    Love,
    Janie

  41. I've been fighting one for the past week, blasting my sinuses with a trusty neti pot, eating blazing curries, and drinking hot, spiced wine on my days off. A friend of mine suggested keeping a slice of ginger between teeth and cheek to alleviate throat soreness. I haven't been able to buy any fresh ginger yet, but a good Jamaican ginger beer did me some good.

    Get well.
