Rough as a bear's arse

The tail end of Gonzalo is Lashing the Welsh Hills
and things are pretty rough here.
Chris is off to Turkey on a conference and won't be back until midnight on Friday
So it's me and the animals against the storm

The videos show just how grey and brown the land is looking
With Chris away...I may treat myself to a cinema trip this evening
It's the weather for it

  1. We are having the tail end of the storm as well in Brittany , having looked out of the window I have made an executive decision that the only place I am going today is to the local bar to get the lottery ticket . I have a new book on my kindle so thats me settled .

  2. It's fleeing here today in West Cork, John. A good Northern English slang expression for being cold. No damage done, just a few hours less sleep. Great videos!

  5. Bit early for your winter John.
Don't like cyclones after sitting through cyclone Tracy.

  6. I knew it must be bad when I found leaves on the bedroom floor this morning that had blown in from no tree that's near us, through the small opening of the window and through the drawn curtains. Elsie seems to prefer the weather out the front door and goes out regardless. The kitchen door weather is backed away from.

  7. It's a bit windy here too. Every time I see one of your videos, I remember the hovering helicopter sound-effect of your old camera.

  14. I was relieved when Gonzalo moved east and did not hit us, but I am sorry to hear that she made it to Wales. The good thing is that hurricanes move fast and should be out of your way tomorrow.

  15. I wondered how you'd be faring in this weather. We're having a sunny day in London, weirdly!

  16. Glad to know you and yours are ok. I am a weather watcher and wondered about your part of the world. I live in the south of USA. Tornadoes have made be a bit careful,( and crazy). Enjoy your movie.

  19. "Blown to Buggery". Where's that? Would I be right in guessing that it is simply another name for Rhyl?

  20. Yes, definitely the weather for a trip to the movies.
No bad weather here, but my daughter-in-law's hometown was hit hard by the cyclone Hudhud in India. Fortunately all family members are safe and well.

  21. My son and his wife are in North Wales on holiday, so expect they are getting a lashing too.

  22. The skies may be gray, but the ground sure looks green from here (maybe it's because I've come from reading a blog in New Mexico!) It does look cold, though, and I do hope that sniffle was just from the wind. Convenient how Chris is off to Turkey, while you're left all "blown to buggery." Tee hee.

  23. I dislike wind of any sort after living in tornado country for five years. If it gets blustery here I retreat to the house. Off to the theatre with you!

  27. That's a very fast hurricane - we here in Atlantic Canada just finished with it on Sunday night, and before that it was in Bermuda off the very south of USA on Friday, I believe. Amazing how quickly some weather travels. Hope it blows away from Trelawnyd just as quickly.

  28. We've got a grey day here now and, it shall stay that way the rest of the week. I didn't mow the back yard before the rain started (was on my "nice if you can get to it" list), so i'll have more to cut down come the weekend.

  32. I loved hearing your voice, John. Now you're not just disembodied words on a blog. Hunker down, these things can be treacherous!

  33. Was as windy has a very windy place in London yesterday so can imagine much worse for you guys. Saw Oban was hit with 88 mph winds

  34. I love days like that... probably because all the places I've lived for the past 20 years so rarely have them.

I've never been blown to Buggery (as far as I know).
