Lots to do

I've planned to cut the lawn in a while.

There are dumplings to make to add to a beef casserole
And I've promised Chris that I will follow Mary Berry's chocolate eclair recipe and knock
Up some choux pastry
But even domestic goddesses like me need some downtime
and so with an aged Welsh Terrier in need of some TLC
Meg and I watched a crappy John Wayne warfilm from the over stuffed  armchair in the living room

  1. How nice John. You make me feel better already having felt rather sorry for myself this morning. Just a nice simple enjoyable afternoon you have had. I think I will pour a sherry for myself on the strength of it. x

  2. God, John..you put me to shame. You are making eclairs? I might get some muffins done over the weekend and that's that. Glad little Welsh Terrier had some cuddle-time.

  3. I have a predilection for bad movies when I'm in certain moods. Mainly one's like "Parent Trap". My oldest once commented upon seeing me watching said "It's hard to believe you were once a respected man of science."

  4. Does Meg really like John Wayne films? (How's the cycling going? You need to pedal faster to counteract those dumplings and chocolate eclairs!)

I'm sure Meg enjoyed the cuddling.

  7. Eclair's can be made anytime. We can only cuddle our little ones for such a short time.

  9. Does Chris take the photos, or do you have one of those extension thingies for you camera?

    1. I suspect he calls his "extension thingie" an arm, Tom.

Selfies taken at arm's length often look as if taken from farther away than the length of an arm, I have noticed.

  10. Everything in its own time John.
Mmm, eclairs... cream puffs... I'm hungry!
Do you make fluffy dumplings or those gummy things?

  14. Cuddles are important to our furry friends. All our cats crave it. Too bad it's not a paying job, because I'd love to do it full-time.

  15. Gotta love cuddle time with the fur babies! Ours are usually either lying on the doorstep in the sun or lounging around one of the couches but when I go to sneak a cuddle ... they all bugger off out doors! Until night time when several will come and sleep on the bed leaving me no room for my legs! Wouldn't change it for the world! I love eclairs but not enough to have the energy to beat the living daylights out of the choux pastry.

  18. The Welsh Terrier makes a good attempt at portraying a half-shaved beard

  22. Give me a John Wayne cowboy movie any day. We just saw The Man who Killed Liberty Valance. Had forgotten how good it was.

In your turkey lasagne, do you use a cheese, ricotta and/or mozzarella?

  23. OMW Eclairs? How I'd love to be there! I love that you and Meg took me-time. Beautiful photo. xx

  27. Jo is my cuddlebug, and she often will jump up on my lap when i'm ready to stand up and get some chores done. I'm never sorry I cuddle with her first and always feel much better afterwards.
