To do...........

Real life often gets in the way of real life, don't you think?
I am sat at the kitchen table trying to find a new fridge on line
The old one has given up the ghost and I am in the process of trying to prise open the freezer door
With a bread knife
It's a work in progress which I have taken  some time out from
Real life jobs can be bleeding irritating
There is a mouse that needs catching in the living room
( we saw it last night bouncing around the draught excluder)
And Chris had nominated me to help a neighbour sort out his car insurance on line this morning
( which was kind)
The neighbour is 90, so part of me wants to say
Why the hell bother?
But I will dutifully go around after I deliver eggs, walk the dogs and water pat- the- animal helper's
tomatoes......she's still away on a cruise !
But first I need another coffee
So I make one
And I sit with my friend, my blog,
Thinking of all of those other mindless little jobs that I need to chase up today

Call in to see my sister to see if I can borrow her chimney sweep brushes ( sweeping the chimney is a thankless autumn job)
Clear the weeds from the lane against the cottage as Mrs X commented just how scruffy the place is looking
Post a job reference I wrote for a friend,
Scrub the bathtub within an inch of it's life after giving Winnie a much needed fanny bath this morning
Real life......we all experience it's charm
Anyhow
The dogs have not stirred from bed yet... So I have a couple of minutes  yet to find a fridge
Last night's mouse must be dead as Albert is happily dozing  amid the canines
I took this photo to prove it
Now.......
 What's next?

  1. Don't suppose you've got any time to sit at the computer and write a blog then, eh? ;-)

  2. I am toying with the idea of looking for a freezer, it took me 3 weeks to find a greenhouse, 2 minutes to buy it and it will be delivered tomorrow. I need a day off and lots of tea before embarking on a great freezer hunt. The biggest dog that I have bathed was a Great Dane, I ended up the wettest I think.

  3. Have you got a John Lewis near you. Good selection there to suit all price ranges and they deliver too. Also, you get 2 years warranty for nowt which is a bonus but don't take out fridge insurance, it's a con. Also, you think you've got problems. We've got a powder keg up here just waiting to go off - tune in this time next Friday!x

  6. My real life often overwhelms me and I have so much less to do than you. However, I would scratch off the list: chimney-sweeping, bathroom cleaning (and the prior dog-butt -- or did you really mean "fanny" -- washing), and mouse-catching.

    2. Wait, what?

We took AlfieDog to vet (mmm pretty) the other day and it took me and two big blokes (ie vet and The F*ckwit) to hold this little dog to just get the muzzle on him. He is a Highly Strung Little Prince. Gonna cost us more than a monkey to get his teeth fixed, sheesh! Love him to pieces tho.

  11. We used to buy from a Sears catalog, now anything and everything can be found on the Internet. In the short future, a drone will be delivering the fridge. Now if only Amazon could clean our chimneys and cut down our weeds.

Winnie's fanny bath? I so really did not need to know that. Australian fridges are really big, nearly as big as American fridges, but ours are full of bottles.

  15. That first pic reminds me of a story Billy Connolly once told. He convinced his Dad you could get prescription windscreens fitted so you didn't need to wear your glasses when driving. Unfortunately his father told all his work mates at the ship building yard and became a laughing stock.Oops.

  16. Is Albert dozing with his eyes wide open? Probably wise, after all the sneaky cat tricks. I really enjoyed your list of "things to do." That's what life is made up of, and at the end of the day it feels good to know you've done your bit to keep your corner of the world in order for a little while.

  17. Looking at those amazing bright eyes - wide open and fully aware - I have to tell you that I bet that mouse is still alive somewhere close at hand and just waiting for Albert to shut his eyes in order to slip away. Why not go to the nearest shop and buy a new fridge - in the long run it is probably easier.

  30. Great pic of Albert in the middle of his 'entourage' :-).

Assume the mouse lives if our cats are anything to go by -- they are lethal outside [and bring their kills in to eat /deposit] but crap at catching anything inside the house; including live ones assumed 'dead' when brought in.

  31. We discovered a couple of storage boxes in the lounge had become home to a colony of Wood mice, including a nest of babies in a ceramic pot, and a stash of peanuts and sunflower seeds nearby.

The humane traps were of no use. Either they are too light to set them off, or (and I suspect this is the case) one keeps the door open while the other snacks.

All those found have been deposited in the undergrowth at the bottom of the garden, a Dylan cat from two doors down has been told he's welcome to pop in for a snack. Two other cats seem to have moved in nearby lately, and one has started making friends with the girl next door, so we may have help.

This would never have happened on Sheba's watch.

  34. This I have learned through a lifetime of trying to find people who will "do things." Do not, EVER, ask those people who say they are soooooo busy that they don't know where the day/week/month/etc. has gone. They never have time for anything. Ask only the people who volunteer for everything, handle children and jobs and exercise time and gardening and make their own bread.....you know, the ones whose lives are just crazy busy. Those people, THOSE, are the ones who can find just a little more time in the day to help someone or some cause out!
