Sigh

The play was mighty fine
But everything went tits up
The night finished on a low point after Chris found that Winnie had opened her
Considerable bladder right in the centre of our bed's duvet.
Hey ho

  1. I really want to meet Chris someday. Either you present an exaggerated view of animal-related chaos, or he truly is a saint.

    1. No exaggeration
He sleeping in the guest bedroom
I have just hand washed a six inch diameter piss stain from out of the best duvet

  2. Does Winnie have separation issues, John? If so, I'd have a plastic cover over my duvet from now on. (Been there with a cat)

    1. It's her first accident in a long time

    2. Accident? That sounds like an 'on purpose'.

    3. I have a feeling it's not accidental too...
I forgot to shut her in the kitchen
I think it's all to do with separation anxiety
It's not because she needed a wee
She goes 12 hours sometimes overnight ...
      Hey ho

  4. Maybe she just couldn't "hold it" until someone could let her out? Other than that, all I can say is oh dear and been there done that (with a cat).

  5. Maybe some separation problems ? Sounds like she wanted to be #1 causing her to pee where you sleep.
Try crating her (cover top and three sides) if your out late, turn on the radio and make sure she gets a small treat.
Or she just could have had a bad tummy that night.

    cheers, parsnip

    1. She sleeps in a crate overnight and always has done
She found her way onto the bed because I was rushing and left the door open.
I agree with the separation thing gayle....
We need to remember she was a rescue bulldog after all

  6. Close the bedroom door when you leave the house, maybe. Then I suppose she would find another 'target'!

  7. I didn't think that she could get up onto the bed by herself!

There must be a pun there somewhere about sleeping on the wet spot, but it won't come to me.

  9. Oh Winnie, how could you? Give John and Chris a break!

Worked for me and Cary, John. You two sound rather similar to us. I'm you, Cary was Chris.

  11. Been there - kind of - Taz came in from outside, jumped on the bed, and wizzed. I think she saved up all day.... Taz was rehomed. I know that sounds horrible, but we had named her Taz for Tasmanian Devil. (Which she was)

  12. That's a very pithy review, J.G. (I'm referring to 'Streetcar' not Winnie)
    .
Btw:I think you must have meant "The play IS mighty fine" - and I'd agree.

  13. My dog George pees in our garage every single time it rains. He hates going out in the rain. And if we have a week of rainy days, it's guaranteed that I'll have to mop out there every single day, otherwise the smell will knock you down. Like Winnie, George has a huge bladder.

Poor Chris. I wish he'd write an occasional guest post so we could hear some of these stories from his perspective! Haha.

  14. Maybe having the run of the whole house isn't the best thing for all the critters......shutting some doors may help in future perhaps.

  17. Maybe it was her own doggie version of Blanche?
We enjoyed the production (slight confusion when we turned up at Hatfield and discovered husband had booked for Barnet), although we found GA's delivery a bit tedious at times and would have welcomed more variety in her tone.

  20. Sounds like Blanche brought out the dark side of Winnie! That little message she left you was a clear indication of her displeasure at being left for another!! I'm with Libs on this one - revoke all 'run-of-the-house' privileges in future - that couldn't have been pleasant to come home to, next time it could be worse!!!

  21. Ever thought of shutting the bedroom door before you go out? I expect she was missing you and marking the place she intended to sleep when you eventually returned. Poor Winnie - you just can't get into a dog's mind, can you?

  22. A masterfully concise description of your two most visited preoccupations!

  23. On a rather more theatrical note - if you enjoyed Streetcar you really should take a look at Woody Allen's extraordinary re-working of the story, Blue Jasmine. An incredible film and a monumental performance from Cate Blanchett.

  24. Ah, I would love to meet Chris as well. And you're on my list of "to meet" when I next come to your part of the world. I know all about having to clean up pets' mess while Grant sulks in the spare room! John, I had an early start to my day. If you get a chance, pop over and read what's happening in the Hedges household/ yard these days! xx Jo

    2. He'd have to be bloody strong to strangle a bulldog. Did he go off with the immortal words 'You've made your bed, now you must lie on it... just don't expect me too!' Chris must really love you to suffer all your Gerald Durrell-type tendencies. 'I can't be expected to produce deathless prose in an atmosphere of gloom, eucalyptus and dog piss' tell him.

  26. Very naughty of her but definitely not an accident I think. Still, I can see how Chris would not be happy. Hope she hasn't done permanent damage to their blossoming relationship.

I would never have a boy Pug, I once stood and watched a male Pug cock his leg and wee and wee and wee just where he wasn't supposed to!!

What a shame that it put a 'damper' on what sounds like a really good night ....... hehehe, sorry couldn't resist!
