Jesus On My Shoulder, David Sidaris Under The Duvet

He hasn't grown up, Jesus hasn't
He remains over friendly and chipper
And no bigger than a fat blackbird
He stood like this when I did my rounds and feed run this morning
Moving in a mysterious way.
I am working tonight so I am going to doze in bed after lunch and will listen to
 David Sidaris under the duvet
It's a grey miserable day in Wales today
These dog poems are wonderful

  2. It's all grey miserable days here, and no adorable birds to cheer us up. And cold, blimey. Hail yesterday. Ah well! I hope you have a good shift :)

  3. Be careful. If he continues in that fashion you'll develop a serious crick in the neck :)

  4. how cute; hopefully your shift will be worry-free.

Same kind of weather here John for the last three days......Jesus is a sweetie.

    The poems were VERY entertaining.

  11. Poor David has seen only the worst of our canine halves. Probably sat in the back seat as a young boy, watching some scruffy old queen grimacing as his fat bulldog dropped a turd in the middle of the street.

  12. I love dark rainy days! Here it's in the upper 90's for the next few weeks....hard on old post menopausal females. Love Jesus...may he stay youthful.

  13. Far too cold and lots of sunshine in NE Ohio.
Does Jesus have any hens, or does he just hang about and make people smile?

  14. Good day to stay inside then and not feel guilty! David Sedaris is a genius. We've loved him on "this American life" with Ira Glass.

    Looks precarious...

It was about 8 degrees C. here this morning.

  16. Get a good rest if you can! I like the pic of Jesus on your shoulder, he sure can't weigh much - a poor man's parrot?

  17. Oh bless him! at least he doesn't cost much to feed? I thought he looked a bit like a 'game bird' perched on your shoulder. Bantam blood in him perhaps? Or just a runt?!

    1. That is just what I was going to say.
Doesn't look a chicken to me. More like one of the Doves I see around my yard.
But since I don't raise chickens, what do I know about "teenage" chickens ?
I love Baby Jesus and his escape from the badgers.

      cheers, parsnip

  18. David Sedaris is wonderful and so is [your] Jesus.

  19. It's not Jesus on your shoulder John, it's a chicken.
You are deliberately mocking our Lord. I will continue to pray for you John but it's on you really. Time you got this sorted now mate.

    1. Oh chris, do stop
I am not mocking at all
Jesus was " hatched" on Easter Sunday....hence the name
Even Jesus ( the real one), I suspect would have ventured a small smile at the fact a sweet little hen, with more chutzpah than joan Rivers, has his name after nearly getting eaten by a badger, getting bullied by the entire flock and being an ugly little bugger......
Yes I think your Jesus would have ventured a little smile

    2. Seriously, Chris....lighten up. It's that humorless, sour, looking-for-a-fight attitude that makes so many people despise Christians.

    3. Hi Jennifer

I'm not humourless but I do get serious when I see Jesus getting a kicking. I defend Him. I care about John which is why I rebuked him.

People despise Christians because they don't want to hear the truth about what Jesus did for them, that they needed Him to do it and especially that they need to accept Him personally. x

    4. Chris, you are entitled to your viewpoint, but I strongly suggest you avoid travelling the globe. In the Spanish speaking world there are numerous men called Jesus although usually pronounced "hey Zeus". And they are not doing it as a sign of disrespect to anyone.

    5. This is a little blog entry about a chicken

    6. David Sedaris is a comic hero, Jesus is a chicken and Chris is a deluded fool who needs immediate psychiatric assistance.

This is the Devil speaking, in case anyone was in any doubt whatsoever.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!

    11. It's the 18 year olds you lusted over when you were 60 I am more worried about

  20. I LOVE David Sedaris. One year I gave my husband his book of holiday stories in his stocking. The story of his time working as an elf at Macy's is hilarious, but my favorite story was "Dinah, the Christmas Whore". I nearly died laughing at that one!

    1. Interesting. Was it the patterns caused by the turd on the stripes, or was it something deeper?
