Calling All Entries & A Country Church Service

Former novelty veg entries

We are having a Flower Show Meeting this evening around Auntie Glad's table.
It's a time for agreeing who will do what on the day, and as usual the whole event will generally look after itself
( with a bit of help from our now 13 strong committee )

For those that are interested in entering.
The Trelawnyd Flower Show Schedule can be seen here
Click on the link

The show is open to all and we are always delighted to
receive entries from all over the county and from postal entries from blog readers
( go on! Enter the photograph section...or the hand made greeting card perhaps?
Or some of the craft sections?....it's a bit of fun)
If you have any queries , my contact details can be seen on the Flower Show Website

Anyhow on a more restful note
When I was out on the field last night on " badger watch"
I could hear singing and music coming from the church
I didn't know there was an evening service on
I took this brief video
Even though I am not a church goer
The sound of the voices of the small congregation rather moved me

  1. I can see why it moved you John - I am not a churchgoer but these country churches as beautiful and their usually tiny congregations are perhaps the best of church for me at any rate.

  2. I was trying to upload a video of a sheep choir yesterday but Blogger was taking ages. Do you upload yours straight to YouTube? Your choir is much more melodic!

  7. Tranquil. Here's a question for you....Have you had an opportunity to hear the Trelawnyd Men's Choir in person? I watch them on Youtube and so enjoy their voices. You live in a magical place John.

I have heard them many times and am still toying with joining them
The choir is now made up of men from all over the county but there are , I think three members who still live in the village
There is a summer concert here in July at the village hall, you have reminded me to buy tickets

  10. my dad was a notorious enterer of strange categories in the village show. Practically everything he made was rude in someway , guess he just never grew up

  11. Lovely video. I am not a churchgoer any more but sometimes I love to slip in and listen or be quiet. I so enjoyed visiting many village churches on my last visit to the UK.

As you know I am busy with a project but I do have some items already made so I might just enter.

    cheers, parsnip

      That would be lovely!

  12. And as in my childhood church, with its small congregation, the loudest part is the "amen" at the end :)

I notice there was lovely singing and music OUTSIDE the church, too! The birds worship every hour of the day.

  13. I got very excited about the art and craft section but SADFACE, no section for sewing, just "arsing about" sewing (x stitch and tapestry, yech!) NO quilts? Oh stuff it I may just send something anyway. I like the idea of being disqualified from a show on the other side of the world. And someone might buy it and there you go. Zombie teacosy and pot mits? Then it can always look good in your kitchen if all else fails! LOL!

    1. You could sew a design then put it on a card?
      How about that?

    2. Mrs C - I was going to send something sewn in too - glad you spotted no category for it - maybe next year? Plenty of other categories on offer though (owning my disagree on the x-stitch and tapestry - they still come under the banner of 'crafting' and some of them are quite beautiful).

    3. I hope you make a card nana

    4. John John John, sewing is a three dimensional craft, and cards are two dimensional. Ah weell, I may have to do some x stitching. It may be a sampler saying "I phuquing hate X stitching" though. Just sayin'! ;-)

    5. PS Nana Go-go, I am kidding, I actually sell cross stitch and tapestry and all sorts in my shop. But it's not real sewing, not really. Sewing is about creating something you can wear or use, not just a pretty thing :)

  14. John, I think someone else pointed this out the last time you had a link to the schedule - the date is given on the main notice as Saturday Aug 9 (which looks right according to my calendar) and in another as Friday Aug 9 and Saturday Aug 10 (Rules: #4 and #9). Thought you might want to correct it.
