God Hates Fags ( apparantly)

A while ago, I used to follow a blog which resembled parts of my own.
It had chickens, and out door things in it
It had humourous videos and chit chat
And it was written in an attractive and witty manner, by someone smart and liberal

Like so many other blogs , it disappeared in the ether , only to return recently with a totally new character. A born again Christian type of character.
Now the phrase " whatever floats your boat" comes to mind
Followed rapidly by " horses for courses"
Bloody hell, I am all for the "  live and let live" ethos
But I did think it a huge shame when suddenly on a blog that I once enjoyed and respected
evangelical and rabid anti gay videos have been unleashed unquestioned into the public domain

Hey ho

  1. It's not the guy with the apple on his head, is it? Not sure if I want to mention names, in case it is not him. But he's the only one I can think of, whose wit I had always enjoyed but who had suddenly dropped out of blogland a while back.

    1. Yes it is Iris. My personal belief is that he has undergone a hard time, and has been pounced on by a load of stupid so-called 'Christians'. I don't know what has happened to Chris, but I do know that he has subscribed to people who have no Christian values that I recognise, and amount to nothing more than homophobic, anti-Islam, anti- Hindu, anti everything except nutter American theology bollocks which they say is the real thing.

      Idiots.

As an American who is a very observant Greek eastern orthodox I can assure you no ware in my bible does it say to hate anyone for any reason we love our neighbor/friend /relative as they are GOD made us all unfortunately there are whack jobs out there that use region for hate as we all well know and they don't have to be AMERICAN and I have to apologize to my friends sometimes for the whack jobs.

    6. Flowerpower - I was only referring to the two videos which he posted up on his blog, both of which were American whacko ones, which - sad to say - most of them are.

We in G.B. have our fair share of nutters (some would say more than), but they are not so prolific in the video-making industry as you lot. We have to get our bottled hatred from somewhere, and - sorry to say - your country is the best English-speaking source.

    1. Julee: I don't know this for a fact, but I'd guess that cigarettes were called "fags" as a shortened form of "faggot," a small bundle of burning or smoldering sticks. Now, a more interesting question might be, "Why are homosexuals called fags or faggots?"

  3. Is it possible that this nasty person or group took over the liberal person's blog? Sometimes when people quit blogging, someone manages to take their blog and send out whatever they want to the followers. I always send an email warning to the former writer of the blog and stop following it.

    Love,

I am glad that I never read his/her blog and added one count to his/her stats. Hopefully, it will crawl under a rock and rot away.

  6. I'm glad I have no idea what blog you mean. I meet plenty of hateful evangelical Christian types in my everyday life here in SC. Of course, nothing like the Westboro Baptist crazies, thank goodness. I wish something could be done about that vile church. Speaking of which, I love the photo in this post! I shared it on Facebook a while back.

  12. Westboro Baptist is a scourge of the earth.
I will never understand the hardcore God fearing contingents obsession with homosexuality. What does anyone care what people do in their private lives so long as no one is being hurt in anyway? I also enjoy how they always seem to conveniently ignore the other array of sins listed in Leviticus and Exodus to cherry picked the one(s) they liked. I love it when here in the US a Congress person gets caught cheating and immediately thumps a bible like no ones business.
What will these hateful, small minded people do if they meet the Creator and he says, "Clearly you missed Jesus's words an you were supposed to be kind to everyone and you mucked it up." No backpedaling there.

    1. I live in the South and work at a bookstore, and I can tell you for a fact it's not just homosexuality they're obsessed with; it's ANY form of sexuality. They can't think and talk and write about it enough. I counted about a dozen titles in our "Christian Life" section the other day about guarding your daughters' virginity and/or keeping your teenage sons from masturbating. I'm not even joking.

  14. It's kind of shocking when that happens. Like the American folk singer Michelle Schocked, who devolved into a hate filled rant at a concert in San Francisco of all places.

Things are improving in so many places that it is sad to see someone regressing to a less tolerant place. He or she must be terribly confused.

And I think the good book also states that we are to love one another. Nowhere does it say to love everyone.......EXCEPT FOR....... (you get my drift) It's just another form of hatred and bigotry, which I think are one and the same. Ignorance and hatred is everywhere, we simply have to rise above it. Cheers!.

  28. How pathetic must he feel himself to be, to choose to wallow in ignorance and hate when, before, he was intelligent and humourous. And how woefully ignorant and hate-filled, to completely ignore that God is 'supposed' to be love. People are far too busy drawing circles around themselves to exclude anyone or anything different; I'd far rather draw people closer, include and learn from them. Guess that's just the way we smutty-minded cows roll. ;-)

  36. I used to read Chris's blog regularly years ago, and enjoyed it. He was witty and insightful, interested in life around him, kind, warm and funny. (A bit like you, John.) He used to make me laugh. Then his posts started to get a little sad, and shortly after that he just disappeared. What the hell happened to him? Now he's resurfaced. I think the same good kind Chris is still there, but he has been hijacked by god knows who or what. Like Jim, I hope that he will wake up one day.

  41. Things change, no doubt. I know my blog changes with every post (thankfully there are not a lot of them :-) ).

But this is different. What I hate even more is that if it was anti-some-religion or anti-some-race, this would have been stopped and the person put behind bars, at least here in India, at least in theory.

My dear John, people (some) will and do disappoint. Doesn't make them bad people. Just different. Not up to scratch of our (possibly elevated) expectations of them.

Like you I trust and believe in the good in people. Which, occasionally, means that the likes of us come crashing down.

Other than that, and I do not have the will to google it, I am baffled by what a 'born again Christian" is. I am sure the original Jesus might have something to say on the subject.
