FAB

This is my Sunday post
I am working all day tomorrow and doing a SAM shift from 10 to 1am
Must be mad

Virgil....and his serious eyebrows

I hear that the  Thunderbirds tv show is being remade
With live actors
Hummmmm. I am looking forward to see who plays Virgil
I always fancied Virgil
Scott was too cocky
Alan was too young
John  was boring as hell
And Gordon was pug ugly
No....it was the slightly bearish Virgil for me every day

Is it wrong to fancy a puppet?
After all
I did find Phoebus from Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame
Vaguely attractive

  1. You are not alone, John. Virgil was always my favourite Tracy. It wasn't the look of the puppet but the sound of his voice. It made me swoon every time and I was only ten. I never found out who the actor was who voiced Virgil and I never heard him on any other TV or radio show. My abiding frustration with the show was that it aired from 7pm to 8pm and my bed time was 7.30pm so I could never see the end of the programme. I even wrote to ITV begging them to put it on earlier but they politely declined. This was before the age of video recorders. If I see a picture of the Virgil puppet I can still hear his voice in my head all these years later. Happy memories!

  3. I hope the live actors walk with their arms slightly outstretched and blink vey slowly.

I'm not familiar with the Thunderbirds, but I'll look them up on line.

  6. Come on, I wanted to be just like Lady P when I grew up. Never did the pink Roller but have been told I'm a cold bitch.

Hope the day is quiet and the volunteer shift equally so

  7. When I was a kid I had a crush on Rocky the Flying Squirrel and he was a cartoon character. So your puppet fancy seems perfectly all right to me!

  10. I was never fussed on the International Rescue side of Thunderbirds ….. it was Lady Penelope and Parker who were the stars of the show for me { although, I didn't fancy either of them !! } I loved the fact that Parker was an ex-con and expert safe-breaker and that Lady Penelope wore a perfume called ' Soupcon de Péril ' and always drank Pernod !! 12. Joe 90. The beginning credits with the computer whirring, tape feeding through perspex cases, the gyroscope spinning, it was RAD!!!

  14. Fancying puppets or other animated characters is certifiable. Mind you, The Snow Queen could have warmed the cockles of my heart any time she pleased.

  15. It was always a treat when Lady P and Parker were involved in the story line (the one with Lady P tied to the rail track? Even as adults we were biting our nails!) I always wondered if Lady P and Jeff had a history.

I seem to remember reading that the puppets were modelled on famous actors. Scott was modelled on Dirk Bogarde I think.

  17. It's Ok to fancy these characters as they are based on human characteristics after all.
I know a great Lady Penelope / Parker joke... my eldest brother told it to me to tell our mum to shock her !
How times have changed; nothing my teenage son tells me shocks me !

  23. I loved 'Fireball XL five', can't quite remember if it was set in space or not, but the puppet character, (I think) was called 'Zoony', and he/it always said a very shaky ,'Welcome home'.
I'm older than you John so, you might have not seen it!
Hope the day went well and the 10-1-er.

  24. It was a bout Space, the tune just popped into my head, or some of it......."I wish I were a Spaceman, .....fly in Fireball XL5...." Well, I did say a 'bit' of it popped into my head, gone again now!

  25. I didn't realise "The Thunderbirds" were playing on both sides of the Pond. I always liked watching that show.

  26. I think they want people to fancy... fantasy people? otherwise who would watch the shows and buy the merchandise. :-)
I would love to see the show, no matter remade or the original.
Take care of yourself, John. ♥
