Wan*ers

As I was waiting for Chris to get off the train, I listened with astonishment to a debate about racism between a blundering  representative from UKIP and an informed Eastern European liberal. This was on Radio 4 's PM......and it made for some cracking radio.
I just wish everyone in the Uk could have heard it as even the unflappable Eddie Mair sounded just a little "flapped" by it all
Loud and clear
UKIP are wankers....
Dangerous.......gift giving wankers

  2. At first glance, I thought the first sentence said, As I was waiting for Chris to get a tan . . . What I think I see is always so much more interesting than what I really see.

    Love,

  4. Hi John, I kept refreshing the BBC website this morning. The amount of seats gained is staggering.

  5. Sound like wankers to me!
Can't please everyone all the time John. And who wants to please UKIP supporters?

  6. Sounds like hard times to me.
But I'll keep my fingers crossed.

  7. Farage doesn't seem to know anything about his fellow candidates. Many of them are probably NF band-waggoners.

  8. Every time I see UKIP on the television that Black Eyed Peas song: "Where is the love" starts playing in my head.

  10. How on earth does UKIP, despite all the publicity showing them for what they are, STILL manage get so many to vote for them? Defeats me!

  11. I couldn't have said it better myself! Scary thought is how many people are taken in by him.

  12. I am very alarmed by it all.
When my dad used to commute to London in the 70's he made friends with a man named Navnet, origanally from India.
Someone made a racist comment & Navnet calmly told the person he was the civil servant in charge of housing.... enough said.

My parents use to throw funky parties & Navnet supplied the curries. His wife was ( white ) English & beautiful. Happy days.

Just come back from Brighton where the restaurant staff were generally Eastern European - hard working & dedicated. Brighton has a real cosmopolitan feel to it & I for one love it xx

  13. I think most politicians are in the job for money and kudos. None of them represent 'the' people.

  14. I had a holiday in Cornwall earlier this month. There was barely a black or Asian person to be seen ( I could count them on the fingers of one hand), a few Eastern European accents to be heard, but many UKIP posters in evidence. I love the coast and the scenery, but I'm always glad to be back home, where I have Asian neighbours who I get along well with, swap produce with, and chat to, and where I can go shopping and hear different languages and accents, and see women wearing the burka, niqab or hijab without anyone batting an eyelid.

  15. I agree, and I was disgusted to discover that a lot of my friends support them :-(

  16. these last 24 hours have been exhausting... explaining to well educated people why UKIP are evil... I dispair!

  17. My son, who is working in London at the moment, has just been the victim of a comment made against his 'Scottishness' at work by a so-called colleague, which I'm not going to repeat here but which could have come straight out of the mouth of a UKIP supporter (maybe the guy was, for all we know). Don't assume that racism exists only towards those living in the far reaches of Europe and beyond. It's much closer to home than you may think. I'm not a nationalist, a separatist or a raving lunatic but my pen may still yet veer towards the 'Yes' box come September.

    1. I saw an election broadcast from another party ( I forget who) which just kept on and on repeating ' English jobs for English people', so I can only assume that this party does not want Scottish, Welsh or Irish people working in England either. My son in law is Scottish and working in England; thankfully he does not appear to have come across such ignorant, bigoted views.

  18. There was a wonderful soundbite on Twitter when somebody stood up to Farage on Question Time and said

“I'm old enough to have read about McCarthyism and I'm old enough to have read the Rivers of Blood speech. I'm also aware of what happens in elections where a climate of fear is caused amongst the electorate by the charismatic, the bombastic and, to me, the very dangerous. This has driven Europe to war in the past ... I have no time for you sir, none”.

It is very worrying to see how many people are taken in by them.

    1. Someone else came up with the very apt observation that he did not believe that UKIP were intrinsically racist, but they certainly attract a lot of racists, which is just as irresponsible. They would do anything to get a vote.

    2. They also attract a lot of thugs and 'bouncer' types if their recent 'election' broadcast is to be believed. Personally, it scared the living daylights outta me!

    3. They need them, but they are not as big as the ones that the BNP attract.

  20. Just to put the record straight, it was not the manager who came up with that brilliant 'Farage Wave', it was a regular called Gary.

UKIP are dangerous - I know some very liberal and normally sensible people who are becoming enthralled with their single-issue bollocks right now.

  21. Good on you Gary ….. I'll buy you a pint or 10 if I'm ever in The Bell.
……. and, you're right Tom …… I know quite a few people who will and have just voted UKIP …. very scary. XXXX

  22. Very well put, John! It is also very worrying to see how other parties rush to place themselves in a position of 'almost' if not 'quite' agreeing with many of the troubling aspects of what UKIP believes. But not Nick Clegg...

  24. But then aren't we all?

Anyways... they must be hitting some sort of a nerve to get about 20% of the votes... not including mine, I hasten to add... I voted for a very different bunch of Onanites.

  25. John, it scares me to see how they are moving on up the election scores, and frustrates me to hell when I see the complacency of members of my own family when it comes to voting (or not voting at all as the case may be). UKIP are the smiling face of a very nasty bunch. Besides, purple and yellow....what sort of colour combination is that?

  26. On one of the history style channels on the Tivo has been a very interesting series (I'm pretty sure it's a repeat so probably will be again) about the rise of Hitler and his party. You may think I'm being alarmist and a bit mad but the similarities of approach were definitely there and although UKIP and farage may be here today and gone tomorrow they are the tip of an iceberg with a very slippery slope.

Our country is known for it's tolerance, I want it to stay that way. I voted cos I think you must but so NOT for him.

  27. I'm actually quite alarmed at the speed at which they are gathering followers. On the surface they seem to spout some sense but the merest scratch reveals horrors awaiting us if they get in power :-(

  28. Tessie's quote: "I'm also aware of what happens in elections where a climate of fear is caused amongst the electorate by the charismatic, the bombastic and, to me, the very dangerous." Exactly. Farage's whole approach is scaremongering on a vast scale about anything the voters are slightly bothered about.
