Out & About

Albert is under the weather today and has taken himself off to bed as poorly cats do.
He was vomiting in the night
Our sleep was interrupted by noisy waterfilled retching
And by hysterical dogs running amok
Dogs love poking their noses into cat puke
It's a delightful habit
This afternoon , I took the dogs out to get get Albert some chicken
It has been a lovely spring day
So we spent a little time out and about
The dogs sharing a few of the  chicken bits
as we made a quick circular drive a mile or two around Trelawnyd
The North Wales coast

Gop Hill from the North West, Trelawnyd is on the other side

The tiny Norman Church in the neighbouring village of Llanasa

Poor Albert, peaceful in a dog free bedroom

  1. Beautiful views. My cat was sick last night too. I hope Albert gets better soon and has an appetite for the chicken. x

I know Albert is not exactly a spring chicken. And who knows how many lives he has already used up. But you've got to will him on, John. Remember - you promised you'd leave him to me in your will. Preferably alive.

  5. It was our dogs who did a sicko last night, but fortunately in the sleeping area and nowhere near us. Much better to clean up the mess when it has firmed up a bit. Yuk.

We had a drive out and about today as well...lovely to see the countryside waking up isn't it! Vx

  17. I hope he is just having the 'cat flu'. Yes, they can get it. I usually start them back on lean chicken or chicken baby food for a day or two after they seem ill. When they hunt it is so hard to know what they have gotten into. Hope he's better soon. Loved the photos on your walk.

  18. You live in a lovely area; I love old stone buildings. We watch British mystery tv like Midsomer Murder (I hope that is the right title) and always sigh over the villages and their charm. Hope Albert is all well today.

  19. Wow, you let a vomitous cat spend all day on your bed? Brave! It looks like northern Wales is greening up beautifully for spring. Keep the camera working, I want to see everything in bloom!

  20. Aww, John...if sweet Albert is not feeling better tomorrow, I would definitely take him to see the vet.

  22. All I can say is that if you are a cat and you are feeling under the weather, four dogs is four too many. Nice of you to take them out and give him a bit of peace.

  23. A cat retching (particularly successfully) is one of the most effective wake-up calls I know.

  24. Gop Hill, how appropriate to the story!

Hope the cat gets better soon!

  26. Please express my wish for a speedy recovery to Albert.
I hope he is able to rest in peace & quiet. Cats always like to be off by themselves when feeling bad. I know you will keep an eye on him & keep the dogs away. Hopefully, he will be able to eat a bit of the chicken & be feeling better by tomorrow.
The landscapes surrounding Trelawnyd are stunning. It looks like Spring has arrived in Wales as it has here. We are supposed to have temps nearing 70 degrees this weekend. Did the dogs notice how clean the Berlingo was after it's excavation & Spring cleaning?

  34. I can see by the green grass that spring has sprung in Wales.

My cats tend to puke on the floor next to the bed. I think it is their way of saying Good Morning.

I hope sweet Albert is feeling better.

  36. There's got to be something in the air because last night BOTH my cats were sick as well, one of them on my bed. Thankfully both seem right as rain this a.m., but with your Albert as well as several others posting similar comments above it sounds like something spooky is going on. Wooooooh!

  37. Until two years ago, I have always lived with at least one cat. So, yes, the sound of a retching cat is one I have woken up to many times, and it is certainly a sound I came to dread during my last cat's last two years of life, when she was old and frail and needed daily medication. Hopefully, Albert will be right as rain soon again.

  38. I do hope Albert is feeling better poor thing. Its a horrid noise cats been sick. Even more horrid for them I'm sure.

    Beautiful views in your photos.

  39. I hope Albert feels better soon. Phoebe pukes with regularity and always has. I was worried at first, but now just note when it happens in case the vet needs to know (she'll be 14 at the end of the month and still trucking along).

I hope he didn't eat anything poisonous. I can't stand rodents but don't set out poison precisely because a predator may eat the poisoned rodent and suffer as well.

Lovely to see all that green. We're getting more snow today.
