Today I managed to indulge myself in the first of this year's cloud watching moments.
It's been far too wet and cold all winter to be rolling about on the grass
But today, although it remains a little chilly,
It was sunny enough for me to lie down for a few minutes and stare up to the sky.
The neighbours are well used to see me prostrate on the ground in fine weather
They no longer worry about it.
However Camilla did find my corpse like body rather intriguing
She wandered gently over, chunnering quietly to herself
And stood with her head turned quizzically like this for a good while......
regarding me carefully as I watched the clouds blow merrily by
Oh My Goodness... I am in love with Camilla. She was either being sure you were fine or thinking what is the crazy person who feeds us doing ?
ReplyDeleteWhen I lay down The Two Square Ones climb up and settle in for a nap.
Love cloud watching.
cheers, parsnip
It's one of life's cheap pleasures
Deleteshe probably thought you were dead.
ReplyDeleteI do look a bit rough
Delete:)
ReplyDeletedid you see anything in the clouds?
A couple of zombies
Deletehahaa, of course!
DeleteWith the placement of her eyes, she may well have been watching the clouds with you! Does this peaceful prostration mean Franklin's sex drive has calmed down?
ReplyDeleteIt's bingley! Franklin is nat's turkey!
DeleteNo he's still rampant
Oops! Actually, I was thinking of a whole different turkey! My apologies to the Bingster. (Still, you knew exactly who I meant, didn't ya? wink, wink)
DeleteThe clouds are rolling by very quickly here on our hill today I would be tempted to lie and watch them, but they keep intermittently deluging us with the heaviest rain ever, so I don't think I'll even attempt it.
ReplyDeleteGeese ARE very inquisitive aren't they, I sometimes miss ours ... but then I think of all the mess and the fact that I couldn't eat their eggs and the feeling soon passes.
I love the way they stand and watch sue.... With those beautiful blue eyes( only Jo has blue eyes) Camilla has lovely brown eyes
DeleteCamilla looks very large and regal from that angle!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm...... Camilla checking whether there's still life in the body of the incumbent 'ruler' . No further comment necessary.
ReplyDeleteDidn't you get wet lying on the ground at this time of year?
ReplyDeleteNo it's been windy today, so fairly dry
DeleteEventually you may wish you hadn't made it a habit to lie down on a whim ... I suppose if you're there for awhile the neighbours might take more interest?
ReplyDeleteWonderful shot of Camilla. Animals show all kinds of interesting behavior when you take time to watch, don't they.
The first time I did it, neighbour Mandy called over to see if I was ok
DeleteI love cloud watching as well, but it is difficult to do here, mostly because Bools and the Rotti girls would assume that I am down on the ground to play with them. So I have promised myself a sunbed so I can lie down but be away from the feet of the dogs. I have been promising myself such an item since I came here but could not justify the cost, but this year, well this year, I am defo going to be buying me a sunbed so I can watch the sun, moon, clouds, and have a snooze in between!
ReplyDeleteVera... You life is hard enough... A chosen life to be sure, but a hard one.... Go and indulge yourself x
DeleteYou were cloud watching and she was John watching :)
ReplyDeleteHey John,
ReplyDeleteAnother fascinating posting! "The neighbours are well used to see me prostrate on the ground in fine weather" Really? I try to keep my prostate a private matter!
Great post! Thanks for sharing!
Gary :)
I am at that age Gary that I am up in the night for a crafty pee
Delete"Perhaps he's taken leave of his senses! We geese can't put him back up, again. And those stupid sheep are no use; neither are the turkeys. Oh dear, oh dear oh."
ReplyDeleteI was wondering just what she was thinking....standing here with her head tilted like that
DeleteShe's looking up at the sky as well, wondering what you see up there...they are very careful about threats from above.
ReplyDeleteYou watched the clouds. Camilla watched you.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Spring has sprung. The grass has riz. I wonder where the birdies is?
ReplyDeleteRight there!
de birdies is on the wing! but dats absurd ! de wings on de bird! (have not heard that since my granny died! i thought she had made it up?) where is it from?
DeleteUsually attributed to Ogden Nash or ee cummings, but more correctly that prolific poet Anon, according to that arbiter of everything Google. Sorry, can't help it, I'm a librarian I have to look things up!
DeleteI thought my dad made it up. :-)
DeleteMad as a box of frogs!
ReplyDeleteShe was probably feeling protective, wondering if you were ill and what she could do about it. Not much unless you've taught her to call 999 on a mobile....
ReplyDeleteI think she wants to join you !
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful girl she is.
~Jo
She's my most beautiful girl
DeleteIt's times like that you wish they could tell you what they are thinking. Or do we want to know?
ReplyDeleteShe's pondering....if the carrier of food is dead should I let the others know that now we'll have to eat him?
ReplyDeleteI did that once, and one of the cats freaked out...I'd forgotten that her last 'Mum' collapsed and died ,and she'd been with her body for two days...oopsie!
ReplyDeleteJane x
Good thing you don't collect buzzards.
ReplyDeleteLovely feeling lying at peace gazing at the sky, yes indeed. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI love that you do that. I've done that before and it's so relaxing and amazing and humbling and silly, all at the same time. Nothing wrong with that!!
ReplyDeleteWe had some idiot French Air Force hooligans low-flying yesterday.... even the dogs raised their heads and took note.
ReplyDeleteWhat, she's never seen a grown man lying in the grass looking up at the clouds before?
ReplyDeleteJohn, if the neighbors are well used to seeing you prostrate on the ground, you haven't been looking at clouds. Prostrate means you are face down. If face up is what you mean, the word you want is supine.
ReplyDeleteYours for a more perfect world,
Rhymes/Bob
