Bee Watching

Some dogs hate other dogs,
Others hate people,
More often than not postmen, cats and the odd rodent are disliked too
But with our William,
There is just one object of his wrath.....
now the ribus has started to flower in the back garden.
And he will stand like this for what seems like hours
Watching the flowers for signs of bees
William hates bees
With a vengeance

    1. Oh dear, I was just going to write that I hoped he didn't bite them, as I've seen some dogs do.
There's a vicious cycle for you: he hates bees because they sting when he bites them, so he bites them and they sting.

  3. Jacob is the same with spiders...he hunts them down and pulls their legs off.

  4. Dolly (the Collie) hates hot-air balloons and anything that makes a hissy noise, and her sister hates flies. Sarah Toa likes bees, but isn't to fond of snakes - have you read her last post?!

Hope he doesn't get any bad bee stings in his mouth.

  8. Is this what is happening to the bee populations?

  9. I hope he is not tempted to snap at one John.

I must say that every time I see him I am smitten - I really would love to have one as a companion for Tess.

  11. I bet he looks like my Naddy when she's doing in a burr, it's quite entertaining, the faces she makes with her lips pulled back and all !

  12. A tad OCD I'd say! But who could blame him....nothing worse than a bee sting!!

  13. It's my poor son who hates bees. Years ago, he was playing in the garden and suddenly screamed the place down. I rushed outside and he was pulling the collar of his tee shirt. A bee was stuck to him under his tee shirt. It had stung him twice and I had to remove the sting with tweezers. The bee was probably trapped and couldn't get out so that's perhaps why it stung him.

    1. I can't believe how far on your plant is. Up here in NE Scotland my plant is only just starting to show some colour and has very few leaves.

Dog eating flies, good. Dog eating bees, not so good. He is a very handsome dog, for sure.

  18. Ah ha ha! Our dog hates them too, but just the big "bumble" bees that hover in their territories around the house. She will drop everything to have a snap at one, but she's far to slow to come near to catching one, thankfully.

  20. Our Jack Russell, Rosy HATES flies ... with a vengeance, merely mentioning the word brings on a frenzy of barking. So much so that when she was a pup we had to re-name them 'golf balls' (don't ask), it caused much hilarity when guests heard us say for the first time, there's a 'golf ball' in the kitchen buzzing round the Aga don't let Rosy in ... completely baffled was the look most common in our house !!

  21. As my Border Collie has got older, his hates increase. At 11 and a half, he now hates postmen & their vans, high-viz jackets, roadworks, anything flying overhead mechanical or living, skateboards, cyclists, people wearing rucksacks (?????) kids on roller-skates, flies, bees . . . I'm sure there's more but too many to recall. He loves the beach, water and his bed!
