My Stalker

I am full of cold today.
So much so , that I have had to ring in sick for work ( it doesn't look good when an intensive care nurse has an over abundance of snot flying about) ...
It's been a flat sort of day, with the highlight being a nice long, hot steamy bath which was an effort to " clear the old tubes"........
Like the mother of a toddler
I am never left alone, even when I am soaking in the bath

I am always followed
Stalked by a worried looking Bulldog

  2. Try eucalyptus oil...either in a bowl of hot water or 'neat' on a flannel.A few good sniffs every now and then does a great job.

  3. Is she thinking "when is this person going to get out of the bath and get my dinner"?

  4. That's is a wonderful picture. She really does look worried. I think I can see the look of love on her face. Or maybe she's hungry. :-)

  5. It is apparent you will never get away; she will be where you go, and would happily be in the bath to do what you do.

  6. She's a good carer....and so pretty! I too have the crud...snot nose sore throat and every muscle in my body aches....doing the ibuprofen, heat pad and hot tea and cough drops....sick of being sick already!

  9. That furrowed brow speaks for itself.
Hope you can shake it off quickly, J.G. No fun at all while it lingers.

  10. Words unspoken in that look.

  14. She doesn't want to lose you, so she keeps close tabs on you. I hope you feel better soon, a full blown snotty cold is no fun at all.

  15. Sorry that you're sick, John. She does look concerned. Must be nice to have a bed full of warm dogs in bed when you have the chills! Get well soon!

  19. John, colds are the pits. Get well soon.

  20. Poor you. Maybe Winifred's expression is a mirror of how you look at the moment?! Take care and get well soon. x

  21. True love. With a dollop of self interest.
Get better soon. Colds make a person feel vile out of all proportion to the severity of the ailment don't they?

  22. Aww, love the look on Winnies face. "Don't drown Dad, who will feed us?" It's not surprising that you have a cold by the looks of the weather you are having over there. Keep warm, drink lots of water and have a sly whisky chaser now and then. Works for me. Feel better soon John.

I wish I were Winifred staring at you. As it is I am I where I am and when I so much as look a little mournful the Angel threatens to leave home because he can't stand his mother welling up, not even slightly and for a reason. Today, for the first time, I couldn't wait for him to go out so I could shed a tear in the privacy of my own company, without admonishment.

Winifred being a dog won't know how woeful she looks. All I need to do is look in the mirror. And get airbrushed. Photoshoped. Wiped. Whatever.

In the immortal words of Al Pacino or was it Robert De Niro, at a push Clint Eastwood: "Looking at me, Punk?"

Don't, John. Don't. But do make my tomorrow.

  31. I am wondering how the dog spends his time when you and Chris are not at home. Must be hard.

  32. I had a cat that followed me wherever I went.. When my kids were little I always thought the bathroom would be a place I could go for a little quiet.. Not so.. I found washing dishes and cleaning up the kitchen is a place for quiet.. Hope your cold gets better.. It's that time of year..
ta ta for now from Iowa:) Oh by the way ,,,my brother found your blog and just loves it~!~!

  33. Hopefully there is no reason for her to be so concerned, and that you will be feeling better soon! ♥

  34. A dog is far more apt to feel sorry for you than a toddler :)

Hope your cold is short-lived and you bounce back quickly.

  35. at least shes not standing there naked, with a barbie doll in her hand, waiting for you to get out...LOL

Oh John, that little furry face,(I do mean Winifred) Have you seen the tv advertisment of the bulldog wearing a wig? The eyes say it all!!

  38. unconditional love x

  39. Hope you are breathing a bit more easily today John. That look is one of utter sympathy - if there is one dog who knows a lot about breathing problems it is the bulldog. If ever necessity demands that that dear thing is rehoused I will personally come down and collect her - she is absolutely adorable.

  40. What a lovable face!

    Heal quickly.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Ahhh, she loves you! But don't fall asleep in the bath, in case she sits on your head to look in the mirror.

    ReplyDelete
  42. She is so bloody adorable!! I could squish her!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ellie was like that, she would sit by the bath and lick the suds off my arm if I laid it along the edge.
Who could resist that adorable wrinkly face?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Poor Winifred, she is obviously worried that wrinkles from soaking in the hot bath will develop and be as deep as hers.

    It's nice that she cares.
