American Hustle

We went to see American Hustle this evening, and I must admit it was an entertaining romp into a grifter's New York City circa 1978. Five of Hollywood's brightest ( Amy Adams,Bradley Cooper,Christian Bale, Jennifer Lawrence and Jeremy Renner) have an excellent go at acting each other off the screen, but are very nearly outclassed by a short but incredibly telling cameo by Robert deNero who pops up as a mafia godfather!.....having said this Amy Adams does a wonderful turn as cleavage busting wise con woman who just wants to get married......she deserves the oscar for one  short powerhouse scene alone

  1. It WAS entertaining, wasn't it? Which Amy Adams scene are you talking about? And yeah, cleavage... holy moly. I wanted to rush up to her and give her my sweater. One of my favourite scenes was the very first one, with Christian Bale doing his hair.

  2. i can't wait to see this. i bet you have a civil cinema you can attend locally? i no longer go because living smack dab in a big city, either people are talking to each other or on their cell phones and if you complain, they shoot you. it takes all the fun out of going to the movies, even with popcorn.

    1. We have two cinemas locally
One is called Prestatyn scala..which is a lovely small mainstream cinema ( with no gunmen) and the other is a tiny art house cinema at theatre clwyd... Which is the premier theatre for North Wales .......that's only 20 minutes away and shows the arthouse foreign movies that I love

  6. Yes, it's undoubtedly a goodie. Of the seven new films I've seen so far this year it's the only one I'd care to see again (though not '12 years' solely because that was too painful). I hope 'Hustle' gets a clutch of the upcoming 'O's - and, whatever happens, I hope that the sex-on-legs Mr Cooper has still got that 'phwoarrish' beard when he appears.

  7. Have you thought of getting a job as film critic on your local paper? You give us good, short, sharp crits that tempt us (or not) and that is often so much more than the critics do!

  8. This is one of the three films we've seen this year already...it was great...the characters/acting were exemplary and they deserve their Oscar nominations...I thought it was a bit long, and wondered where it was heading at one stage, but overall very pleased we saw it...
