Well, Well, Well.......

Kimbery, Ruby and a tearful Francis await the results
Well the Bake off finished tonight with all the satisfaction of a Hollywood movie......front runners Kimberly and Ruby ( the uber confident, gorgeous  and talented psychologist and the pretty and self depreciating law student) stumbled somewhat during the final, allowing plain Jane Francis to pip them at the post
And just one look at the stunned happiness on Francis' face made it all worthwhile ( albeit not quite fair somehow)
I wonder who will play her in the film?
Joan Cusack?
Or perhaps Keira Knightly in heavy make up and a bad wig?
......well done Francis

    6. No, I don't think you're the only one who doesn't watch this, I saw a few minutes of it once (accidentally), I found it about as stimulating as watching concrete set.

    7. No, simplesuffolksmallholder, you're not alone. I've never seen any of it and have no interest in it - rather like 'Strictly'.

I didn't watch it either; have even given strictly a miss this year. I feel both programs have run their course.

  2. I've been rooting for Francis all along. Poor lass looked absolutely knackered, but well done to her. I would have been happy for Beverley to win too.
I can feel GBBO withdrawel symptoms coming on.

    1. It's been a stressful hour, I beg your pardon Kimberley. You must have been stressed out too John, who is Kimbery.

  4. I am so happy for her!! It was well paced and I loved how we genuinely didn't know who would win watching the episode! Now we have to wait for next year. I say you should enter! I want to see you on your knees with a bun in the oven weeping to the baking deities :)

  6. I don't think the standard has been as high this year as Francis came last in the bagel challenge. I didn't particularly like the look of any of the wedding cakes either. Oh I feel so grumpy this evening and am missing the show already!

  8. Thank Christ for that !!!! After Ramond Blanc's tweet, I really thought that Ruby { head tilted to one side and crying again !! } was going to win. Her wedding cake was abysmal but, as soon as I knew she hadn't won, I did warm to her { a little !! }. I'm so glad that Frances won although, as Simone said, the standard wasn't as high as other years. I'll now have to look for some other competition to watch to slag off the contestants !!!! XXXX

I do miss Howard and Glenn though

  11. I have been avoiding your posts on the Bake Off, for fear of spoilers. I love the show (one of the few television programs I watch) and we are behind you. And, it seems, at least a season behind. So I deprived myself of your posts to no purpose. And certainly wouldn't remember anything by the time we get your current series. Sigh - too clever for myself.

  12. A good result.
Ruby tried the woe is me lark again but in the end the best girl won.

  14. Wasn't as rivetting as last year but I still think the best woman won. Well done Frances.

  15. I thought Francis was solid throughout and was a worthy winner. I think she's also rather pretty.

  16. Ruby was a pain. I know girls like her. Great to catch up with the other contestants. Had to laugh at the wedding cakes... as if a wedding cake could be made in six hours; they looked truly awful !
    Joan Cusack is fab !

  17. I'm sure that in her well deserved moment of triumph, Frances won't notice that you consistently spell her name incorrectly...

  18. I am sure she couldn't give a stuff

  19. I was pleased that Frances won too John. I thought the picnic pies were amazing = pretzels pretty useless - and I wouldn't have wanted any of the wedding cakes at my wedding - just plain old white icing for me thanks.

  21. Errr..... Francis (Sp) is for males like St Francis of Assisi. FrancEs with an e is for females like Frances de la Tour. Our daughter - Frances - is often irritated by this mistake.

  22. We couldn't watch it last night as we were out, but couldn't avoid the headlines...we'll be glued to the iPlayer tonight. It was a superb series which we really enjoyed...everyone in the final was very talented, and there have been some great characters throughout. How nice that the programme remains quintessentially British, even if some of the commentary around it has been unnecessarily harsh. Looking forward to the next series already, and the Celebrity Special which is being filmed around the corner from us as I type!

  24. The best one won :) Really loved the stuff Frances kept on producing week in week out :)

I do feel a bit sorry for Ruby though, just finished her Finals ( got a First) and a bit young and inexperienced.

Kimberley threw it away with that very soggy pie and then the dull cake.

  25. I was super happy and cheered very loudly when Francis won. Her wedding cake was fab, the other 2's were appalling! As for Ruby - I'd had enough of her morose head tilting. Get a grip love or get a slap. Paul Hollywood has gone down in my estimation for being far up his own bum
