Winifred

She's a big lump of a bulldog
Is Winnie
Four years old
Not fazed by anything
She has just met three new dogs, a wide eyed black cat
And 50 hens
And is now, sleeping a slightly stressed bulldog sleep on the hearth rug
Hey ho

  18. Aw she's beautiful. Thanks for taking her in, John. She will give you many years of pleasure I'm sure. We've just inherited two extra kittens as their owner passed away in South Africa this morning. We've been kitty-sitting and now they'll be absorbed into Hedgesville Kittyland. Thank goodness for my loyal and kind Tanzanian staff. Greetings Jo

    1. I wanted to be sure susie.. As much as I could be....
I needed to assess her health, temperament , personality etc...
With having the other dogs, especially Meg, who is not an easy character... I needed to work out any problem areas...
Even now, we have a couple of weeks to let her settle... If not, or if there are any problems , I am afraid she will return to her previous owner

    2. I think that is a good idea.
I am known in my family as 'dog for a day'
A couple of times I have had a dog to stay with us to see if it 'worked' in our family, but they had to go back.
Now my little Crumble is just wonderful. I could not imagine life without him now
Good luck and I look forward to reading all about her

  20. Seems to me you have gone down with a bad case of bulldogitis John, I knew you would succumb. Once a lover of bulldogs, always a lover of bulldogs - one slobber from that wonderful face and you would be lost, just as I would have been.

  21. She is lovely. I am sure she will settle in fine.

  22. Sucker! ;) So glad you have added the third cog to your wheel of dogs. So jealous, I am trying to convince my husband we need a new dog in our lives and it isn't going so well. Can't wait for stories about Winifred.

  23. I wondered if you'd end up with another one sooner rather than later. On Sunday, i saw two different bulldogs out for walkies, and i hadn't seen any. I immediately thought of you and wondered if that were a sign?

She looks lovely, and i do hope she can settle in well. I do worry about Meg and her ability to recognize that no one can shift the place you have for her in your heart. WE know that, of course, but does she? I hope she does.

  24. Awwwwww.....congrats to all.

  25. Oh John, she's just passing gas because she's content, and wants to share a little love with you, lol.....
That's why she snores and well um....passes gas!!

  26. Is it the farting that made you bond? (Sorry, John, I couldn't resist. Hehe.) Of course, she's lovely and so are you!

  27. I knew you would take her in! And I'm sure the "probationary" period will go well. Too much love in that cottage for it not to. I worry about you when you're in your dotage, and can just imagine you tottering down the road with a leash and empty collar stretched out in front of you like the old boy in "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil", walking your imaginary bulldog!

  29. That face would make a hard man crack so you, you big softie, were bound to crack sooner or later ! Did Chris have a say in it or is he just used to having new waifs and strays arrive ?!!
I'm sure that Winnie will make sure that she fits in perfectly ...... she knows which side her bread's buttered !!!! XXXX

I'm hope Winifred (what a wonderful name) will settle down to a harmonious life with your menagerie; she looks as though she'll fit into the village perfectly . She's a very lucky dog. :-)
