What I get Excited About! And The Naming Of The New Slikies

Chris and I were up early this morning and had breakfast in our new local and all shiny MARKS AND SPENCER'S . We bought nice food, marvelled at the new fangled escalators ( look mummy we have moving stairs in North Wales!) and smiled at all of the corporate sales staff who still looked perky enough 48 hours after the official opening.
I always think that Chris is constantly surprised by the way I get excited over small things such as a quality store that sells PROPER GREETINGS CARDS only two miles north of Trelawnyd
I put it down as being an optimist, that is easily pleased
For instance:
1 . I became quite giddy today over the spacious width of the aisles in the new Tesco supermarket.
2 . I can get quite misty eyed over a chocolate biscuit
3 . Bubble baths are things of  luxury and beauty.
4 . A hand written letter can really make my day ( thanks Kathryn)
5 . A blissful first bite of a quality scotch egg!
6 . An uninterrupted episode of The Walking Dead.

Working tonight
I will leave you with news that the new silkies have been renamed
Bogbrush,
Duster and
Puffball
Rather apt I thought

  6. I thought you were a right-on fully paid up member of the John Seymour School of Self Sufficiency. If you're not careful the pair of you will be taking a day trip to the nearest Cath Kidson shop for material to make his and his matching jim-jams.

We volunteers at the charity shop get very excited when any of us buy something new from a " proper shop " I bought three new tops this week.

  9. I've the same question as Ms Sparrow... Can you tell them apart? When we had chickens, I couldn't even tell the hens from the roosters until the cocks crowed, (we bought 50 straight run day-old chicks)... and here you are... naming the little cotton balls!

  11. A man after my own heart. I can jump up and down like a toddler with excitement over things like that too. I just about broke into song when I first went into a Waitrose when visiting the Mother Land - it was like the supermarket in my dreams. So many moments of delight!
Savouring the details of life and taking pleasure from them is a wonderful gift to have. SO much cheaper than Ferraris and diamonds eh!
LOVELY silkies, they are another source of smies and delight :)

  12. Wow, I had no idea that the Silkies looked like this, how cute!
I'm just recovering from a rush of excitement brought on by remembering that I'd hidden a creme egg in the cupboard for tonight! It doesn't take much.

An office supply store does it for me. And old people holding hands. And frozen cherries with yogurt! (Oh yeah...)

The silkies are so beautiful and fluffy! A glamorous woman could easily apply makeup with them by mistake. :-)

  15. John, please don't call that little chick 'bog brush' - they're all so sweet. They remind me of cheer leaders. I like to think of them as - Bee, Bop and Lulu.

  16. I really enjoy finding that right card for a friend and enjoy getting them too, and its been too long since I've done either. Thanks for the reminder!

  17. John, this excitement you see in the small things in life make you the delightful, humorous loving person that I for one am proud to say I know you.

  20. My friend used to have silkies - somehow they remind me of those fluffy applicators you use to get in posh but slightly grannified boxes of talcum powder. My nan had them - too ladylike by far to pat talc between the cheeks of her derrière - oh no, she had a silkie by which she applied it!

  25. I take back what I said about Tesco. It only looked about the size of Holywell Tesco when I drove past the other week. Finally managed to visit this morning and I like it, nice and spacious, and it appears to have everything I need (unlike its crappy Holywell branch).

  26. I gt that giddy with the. Width of the aisles there was no stopping me

  27. I can't believe it! I got called bog brush once...scarred me for years...

  28. I got giddy over a new shearing stand for my sheep and adding new fence, so I know exactly what you mean about having small things make you happy. I'd also rather have a card that someone took time to pick out just for me than a gift. It's the little things that matter in the end. Although.....I wouldn't return a new car or new barn if someone HAD to give them to me. Just saying.

  29. So "interesting" that you find yourself giddy over Scotch eggs, fluffy little chicks, and... The Walking Dead.

  30. There's lots of things in life to get giddy over if ya don't set the bar too high: hitting all green lights on a drive; eating a tangerine without finding a single seed; turning the radio on just in time to find a favorite song; finding exactly what you're looking for at the store... at HALF PRICE.
