Flipping eck (update)

I have wasted my morning waiting for the dog groomer to arrive.
She has been held up elsewhere and instead of ringing. she emailed me.
of course I have not checked my emails, and so I have spent a fruitless few hours watching the lane, sighing a great deal and winding myself up.
Such is life.
By 11am I was ready to beat a nun to death with her own ripped off arms, so in an effort to calm down, I went out to deliver some eggs in the village which for the first time in an absolute age was not rain soaked and miserable. Here are a few photos
Right.... enough of all this... I am off to clean some windows

The cottage always looks a little sad on winter days

  1. Damn that groomer! Hey at least you did something good to try to change your mood, rather than sulk the day away! Is that flamingos in that valley view looking southeast? I tried to enlarge the pic and couldn't. Those are some big birds either way. And btw, a stone cottage with a stone wall, with animals wondering about, and some green grass showing, NEVER looks sad.

    2. LOLOLOL!!!!! That small one in the background...well I thought it was a head...and I thought that sheep was the birds body. OMG! I'm cracking myself up here....I see the sheep now. (red-faced, but laughing)

  2. With people always keeping their smart phones at their finger tips, I am sure the groomer assumed you would get her email right away. However, not everybody has a smart phone and in the same amount of time it took to email, she could have called. I can understand your anger.

  3. Bloody modern technology ..... it's great when it works but not so good in that particular situation.
Your cottage looks lovely and you live in such a pretty hamlet John. I think that old houses look good whatever the weather. We live in a Victorian house now but our last one was a cottage built in 1650 !! Have you had snow yet ? We have. XXXX

  4. I agree with Jacqueline, your cottage looks beautiful. I notice you don't use the front door; Welsh superstition perhaps?

  5. Green in winter... still hard for me to wrap my head around that, but it was like that when we lived near Vancouver, too. Hope you get a little sun soon!

  7. Don't you just hate it when you're awaiting someone and they send an email instead of calling? I had scheduled a guest lecturer for a class but he never showed up. When I got back to my office, I found that he had emailed to tell me he wouldn't be able to make it--like I'm going to look at emails while I'm teaching. And, he had my mobile number! Good thing there wasn't a nun in your vicinity.

    Hope the nun survived.

  10. One of my pet peeves is when people promise to 'get back to you' at a mutually agreed upon time, and they never do, it drives me bonkers.
If I give someone my word, I will be there, and if I'm running late, I always give them a courtesy call, to let them know what the delay is.
The village is so pretty, typical Welsh countryside, quaint to a fault.

  11. But...the bright side appears to be a beautiful walk! A lovely village. That old court house could be something wonderful or is it too far gone?

Plenty of rain and cold here.
    Have a great day, John!

  14. How come you haven't any snow John, when we are freezing under a snow blanket here.

  15. Oh I hate waiting! (I age daily waiting for people here in Africa!) and to think she didn't arrive. I'd also not expect a mail regarding an appointment on that day - what's wrong with her phone? Anyway I love that you shared your pretty little village, John Thanks for that. Greetings, Jo

  17. Any number of times people have asked for my mobile number. About six people on the planet know the number, and i may have it switched on for about three minutes a month. I usually tell these folks that i haven't got a smart phone, if it's a work day, email me as i'll be on the computer anyway and check my personal email periodically throughout the day, or call me on my home phone (which is listed in the phone book).

Could you take pix of the dogs, so we can ooh and aah at how lovely they look after their grooming?

  18. I am enjoying the view from the ground, because it looks totally different in an aerial view John. Totally.

  19. Technology. So many people have smart phones that tell them everything that those of us that choose not to be wired all the time, sometimes get slapped upside the head with a good dose of technology deficiency.
    Nice walk though.

  20. I love when you share pictures of your village... it looks like such an idyllic place to live.

Sorry about the groomer, but I'm surprised you don't do the grooming stuff yourself.

  22. So green, so lush. Hooray for dog groomers who are running late, giving us the treat of a walk through the village. Thank you.
