  2. put a little smile on my face. You always think that polar bears are white but they're not are they?

  3. Suely the caption to the photo(s) should have been:

'Hey Mum! I've found a juicy human to eat but he says he's been eating Tesco Beefburgers. Is it OK to eat horse meat?'

  9. I needed that...it's been raining for days here in NC. Soggy, soggy & snow on the way.

  10. Just as long as one of them doesn't do that too close to my son at the moment... just got his rifle licence so that if one of them is too close he can shoot first and worry about the consequences later!

  13. So long as it is not dancing in my back garden John, I love it.

  14. We also have sun today, and it's glorious to see it. It's been playing hide and seek a lot here, too.

  15. I love to watch nature programmes on the big white bear. But after looking after an Inuit who scalped by one, the zoo will be as close as I ever get to one. He said it snuck up on him and he never heard it coming!

  20. I've been awake all night because it is so fecking hot ...we throw the sheets away and then get our flesh offered up to the mosquitoes. It sounds erotic but it's so not.

We whinge: It's been 30 C plus for more than a month now. 40 plus for a fortnight. In the city, you can see the crime rate skyrocket as folk take to drink and spin out on the long, long daylight hours.

At least when it's cold you can cover up, light the fire, put on your sheepskin boots. In extreme heat, you can't do anything but lay about til evening until the doctor (the sea breeze) arrives.

I'm beginning to think I'm a cold weather friend ... or maybe I'm just over this desert mining town.

  23. I think I know this bear!! He had one too many drinks one night at the local Bartels and Company Tap (real place-owned by my brother and sister in-laws) and there were patrons throwing money in a cup for the poor lad. It's sad when you see a polar bear slip that far in life....sigh.
But highly amusing at the same time. Wisconsin is desperate for entertainment in January.
