The Journey

ok
enough of all of my anger issues..... I aim to blog about all of my "irritations" tomorrow (well it's cheaper than going to therapy)
and then it's ALL out of my system
( see what you have started Nigel?)
In the meantime I will post this year's best tv Christmas advert
and of course it is from John Lewis
it's sweet and rather nicely done
enjoy x

  3. My bereaved niece exhorted me to watch this, saying her mum would have loved it. John Lewis are NOT my favourite partnership right now, and I think it is shite, but not for that reason. Sorry.

I love john Lewis... only because Cole Brothers ( which was store in sheffield) was taken over and kept alive in it's old form by John Lewis
it used to be a tradition in sheffield to do a "quality shop" at coles!
I refuse to get even more angry today!

  5. I've just been having a 'debate' with my daughter about the soundtrack of this advert. It got so heated that in a scarily realistic impression of my mother I suddenly heard myself roaring at her 'Frankie goes to Hollywood's version is FAR superior to that insipid pap, I should know, I was THERE'. Thing is, I never really liked FGH back in the 80's - clever folks those advertising bods playing on the nostalgia of a certain generation!

  7. I think this advert is awful but I don't care. I like John Lewis (and its supermarket Waitrose). It is a good quality British firm with admirable marketing values especially compared with Tesco or Sainsburys. And akin to M&S.( But not like ASDA which is now owned by the appalling USA Walmart corp.)

But FFS the Christmas advert is just that. An advert. Take it or leave it. Nice warm feelings for the brand in general might encourage you to shop there if you have a local branch. They do have some very nice stuff. And it's half the price of that in supermarkets in Australia for instance.

Or go to Aldi. Their ads are very funny. Your choice. Why are we getting stressed about retailers adverts? I'm ashamed to even be commenting on this. But I am sickly poorly and feeling sorry for myself today.

  11. Stupid snowman didn't notice the bit about online and mobile purchases. Should have whipped out his iPhone and saved himself the trip. Moron.

  15. I LOVE it ! Who sings that ? It's gorgeous. Gloriously sentimental like all the good old Christmas films.

I bought a hat in John Lewis this week - a hat for a wedding and it's lovely.

  16. Christmas adverts should be all sentimental and 'white chrstmassy'...fortunately we hardly get to see any, so I shalln't get too frothed up about it...
