Queenie Days

Queen Beryl
In Drier Times
It's Trelawnyd Carnival today
What a shame the weather has closed in somewhat!
The carnival Queen will be driven through the village in a vintage car at 11.30 am
So Mike and I will be donning our waterproofs, and will be waving our soggy Union Jacks with gay abandon as  Beryl Evans ( a lady in her 80s) passes by!
I thought It a nice touch that a more mature lady was picked as the figurehead

Meg with her 5th place Rosette in the Scruffy Dog Competition

Chris and Mike in the "ale" tent

PS. Unfortunately the weather closed in even more by 11.15, so as Mike and I stood alone on London Road, waving our flags as Chris sat in a warm dry church, a farm land rover roared past with the RFWF's son announcing through a  megaphone that the parade had been cancelled to tomorrow!

Mike and a VERY wet Boris
I am off to work later

  1. Looks a lot of fun. Our village carnival is doing away with the traditional queen ( voted in a very boozy evening at the social club ! ) I wonder who will be on the throne in August. Well done Meg !

  3. Great photos and the last one is wonderful. (Chris actually looks happy to pose for the camera. Is that a first?) Congratulations to Meg for not being the scruffiest! Would love to be in Trelawnyd for the carnival.

  4. Brilliant idea choosing a mature lady as the Carnival Queen. That scruffy dog should have won a first for being the most cuddly dog.

  5. I'm with Weaver. I've always hated those silly, spotty, 15 year old, 'beauty' queens. Well done Beryl (was she in Bikini?).

  7. Meg appears to be "smiling", as do Chris and Mike, but I am sure for totally different reasons. Meg's not being 'ale' as one of them? LOL Cold, wet and damp here in Ontario the past couple of days.

  8. I can't believe how much you look like Chris.

  9. Best pic of Chris I think I've seen, he's usually so sober um ... somber.

Looks a bit damp and chilly there.

  10. Well done Meg!
I just hope she isn't altered by fame.....

Is Chris Roger Moore's lovechild?.... just wonderin'....

  11. The Carnival Queen is a beautiful woman, no matter her age but, like you, I'm glad a "more mature" woman was chosen.
    Have fun!

  16. I do hope you get better weather, and love that Queen Beryl will be waving to all and sundry.

  17. She's a lovely Queen, I'm sure she'll enjoy all the fun and attention.
I agree with Weaver of the Grass, Meg should have been voted most cuddly dog, she reminds me of my old teddy bear, though sadly it's missing an eye and thread-bare on one ear :)
Hope your skies clear tomorrow, and a grand time will be had by all !

  19. Everybody should have a 'Boris' in their life! Love that shot!

  20. I have a relative of your Boris who comes gobbling outside my bedroom window at 5 am! Is your parade queen aware that the current hurricane off of Florida is named Beryl?

  21. May I look half as good as Beryl when I am 80! Pic of you and Meg was FABULOUS

  22. Yes, I too think that's a great photo of you and Meg. Hope your weather is better tomorrow.

  23. For poor Boris, I think it is a shame that you're off to work later as the expression on Mike's face suggests he's got designs upon that unfortunate turkey.

  24. Hail to Queen Beryl! Gorgeous gal! I too think the picture of you and Meg is wonderful! Too bad the weather did not cooperate!

  27. Shame about the weather. Better luck with the rerun! I felt sorry for the organisers of the Jubilee pageant on the Thames, completely deluged by the end!

  28. Was "waving our soggy Union Jacks with gay abandon" a Freudian slip?

Happy birthday for the other day!
