One Little Word

Last night's Jenny Agutter-fest underlines just how one word or phrase can elevate a pretty ordinary film scene into one that is remembered fondly by thousands.

By inserting the tiny "MY" into Agutter's plaintave "My Daddy", the whole reunion scene cranks up in emotional intensity...a simple andlovely moment.

Here are a few more of my favourites:

I could go on but I have chicken coops to paint

and finally for Tom (Bath) and Tom (Angola)

  3. "Walkabout" was on late night TV earlier this week. What a bizarre film but how gorgeous was the younger Miss Agutter! The swimming scene was...err...artistic!

  7. I seem to remember Ms Agutter also starred in a film versions of Equus, where she frolicked sans clothes.

  8. How can someone not have fancied Jenny Agutter - I thought it was demanded of boys / men of a certain age in the 70s/80s....

She still has "it" btw... :-)

  10. I only watched the first clip (so far) and wanted to say that although I don't find the word 'my' tremendously meaningful in it, I LOVE the music and I'm dying to know what the rest of the sentence at the end is! "for neither we, nor..." ??????
