  3. I love marcia's mum. When I first met her, she picked me up from the airport in Lubango and then drove the wrong way up the road (on the sidewalk) to beat the traffic having first thrust a flagon of wine into my hand and telling me to drink. Then, when we had our house built, she would come for lunch, berate marcia for being a sloppy wife and do all the ironing and floor sweeping and over lunch would give marcia a lecture on 'being a good wife'. I love visits from my mother in law. Marcia seems strangely retiscent.

  4. I took off days before mine arrived to get this house looking like no one lives here.
    Good luck!

  6. Don't forget the noseprints on the doors and windows and dribble on the hearth and kitchen floor.

  7. Your sense of humour cracks me up. I also want to fart in a posh place, but never found the courage to do it.

  8. Dog snot & pig shite off your clothes? My niece has a Bull Mastiff, reminded me of her saying, "cleaning up the Pixi snot". LOL have fun with this, as I am sure you will see the humour in it all.

  11. I hope you're not eating okra while your MIL is visiting, it's difficult to tell if that's a vegetable or snot.

  14. Do the dogs stay outside while you clean, then walk on newspapers until the second before arrival?

  17. Warning - make sure suction is working in the right direction....

I bet you don't get round to dusting the lampshades. I mean, people never look upwards, do they?

  19. Good luck with making things clean and tidy. I started on some spring cleaning here, and it looks as if i'll need most of spring to get it all done!

Loved Hippo's comment. My MIL wasn't as warm towards me.

  20. My MIL is unable to travel thank goodness. She has only been here a couple of times but the most memorable was the first time she visited after Mr. O and I married when she arrived with:

Food that you could buy at the grocery store down the street from my house

    And her pots and pans

Then she proceeded to take over my kitchen (I LOVE to cook and am very fussy in my kitchen)

She got the kids involved in a very messy gingerbread making operation and my head about exploded.

Had to tell her son to speak with her. On subsequent visits she was off limits to the kitchen.

    I feel your pain.

  21. I wish we had some helpful tips, but alas dog snot seems to be the hardest thing to get rid of.

  27. Granny always said, Clean house after the company leaves and you won't have to clean it twice.

I respect my elders and try to follow their advise.

    Enjoy your visit.
