The Adventures of TinTin: The Secret of the Unicorn

I just didn't "get it"
Not wacky enough to be a cartoon
Not realistic to be a filmed drama
Beautifully crafted, full of Spielberg touches
and for me...........despite all the protracted action...........dreadfully dull
4/10

  1. Never understand anything about TinTin. Fred, on the other hand, thinks it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

  3. I was hoping it would be good. I read the Tintin books when a child and loved them.

I choose a good story over great special effects any day, so shall give this a miss. Methinks Himself will most likely want to watch it, though. He's more into effects than i am.

  7. Sounds as though I might enjoy this film. Everything that comes out of Belgium is good - Tintin, Poirot, chocolates, guns...

  10. John, wish I still had a desire to see films! But I don't. Lost interest completely! Where did I go wrong, John? Do I need some kind of help? lol

  11. I took three of my grandchildren to see Puss an Boots 3D last weekend and this movie was one of the previews. As usual, the previews showed only the best and I told my granddaughters that I would take them to that movie next. " Nah, "looks boring", they said. I guess they are right.

Thanks for saving me about $50.00, John.

  14. Perhaps its because its Belgian. I'm totally with you on the Jimmy Saville thing and am getting totally fed up of it being the main feature on Look North EVERY night. Gusto was near the Cathedral apparantly, but has moved to Norfolk Row - just off Fargate, opposite the entrance to the Catholic Church. x

  15. No Mr Magnon - Tintin does not have an American accent. And come to think of it, neither did Alice. She was a lovely English girl called Kathryn Beaumont.

I thought Tintin was a delightful and faithful version of the books I have loved since I was a child.

  16. Much prefered the early cartoons and the weird stunted dubbing.

Sometimes Hollywood just ruins the simpler things will over-production.

They'll be destroying 'Ivor the Engine' next...

  20. Never heard of Tin Tin until I saw the trailer while at the theater to see another movie.
    Now I'm glad I didn't see it.
    Thanks for the review, John!

  21. I think the whole point of Tin Tin is that he's two dimensional. I don't think I wanted to see the film before I read your review.
